We had the good fortune of connecting with Sergio & Sheila Manriquez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sergio & Sheila, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Our thought process behind starting our own business was because we were both tired of working at 9-5 corporates jobs. We wanted to design our own destiny, create a legacy for our family, be free to work & do things according to our schedule and our time; and not have to follow a “corporate culture/idea” of what is acceptable.
We have always been taught to play it safe , go to school and get a job. Well we quickly found our selves running a rat race that was quickly going nowhere. We knew that if we wanted different results, we had to make changes. With change, meant we had to take risks! Meant quitting our corporate jobs and starting Real estate full time, and never looking back!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Sergio & Sheila Real Estate Group – We are a husband & wife residential real estate team. Our passion for people and serving others has allowed us to excel very quickly in this business. Our excellent communication and professional style is what sets us apart from others. We believe strongly in Trust, Integrity, and Commitment. We pledge to be the best fiduciary for our clients and create lasting relationships. We hold ourselves to a standard of excellence, that delivers CONSISTENT RESULTS! We measure our success by exceeding your expectations and working closely with you to find the perfect fit. After all, it’s arguably in most cases, the most important investment you will ever make. The primary goal is to help you navigate through the real estate process with the least amount of stress on your part. We look forward to the opportunity to help you achieve your goals.
One of the challenges that no one teaches you when you start a business, is how to run a business, from marketing, taxes, payroll, etc. However, we quickly learned that we had to partner up with the right people, create systems, and stay extremely organized. This will allow you to focus your time and energy on income producing tasks rather than tedious miscellaneous things. This is an extremely vital part of a business.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Some of our favorite spots in the city include shopping at Highland Park Village, then dinner and drinks at Bistro 31. If you want to enjoy an elegant evening with spectacular downtown views, we would have to go to Monarch Restaurant. For a top notch steakhouse and fun vibe we would have to drive to uptown to the famous Nick & Sam’s steakhouse. We can always end the evening on the patio or cigar lounge at Javier’s .
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Sheila and I have never been shy to ask for help and mentorship. Books by TD Jakes have been extremely powerful in our growth spiritually and have helped shape our entrepreneurship mindset! Early in our career, Carolina & Marcel Rendon with Carolina Rendon Real Estate Group were the ones who encouraged us and believed in us to make the jump into real estate. We are thankful they saw the potential in us. Keith Conlon and Allie Beth, (President of Allie Beth Allman & Associates and CEO of ABA) were also very instrumental to our growth. They were both extremely supportive and encouraged us to be grateful and to keep working hard. Oftentimes, accompanied us on listing appointments. After being in the business a few years, Alex Perry ( Agent with Alliebeth Allman) encouraged us and taught us to not stop! When we think we have succeeded, we have to keep learning because you’re only as good as your last deal. He taught us to study and know the market like the back of our hand. Most importantly Alex taught us to always be ready. He taught us how to be the best agent and stand out against the competition. We’ve never met another agent to have the work ethic that Alex has. He continues to inspire us everyday! Kirt Linington , owner of Linear Roofing, has mentored us this year. His mindset continues to forge our thinking outside the box and challenge us to not settle for the status quo. He teaches us to always be the best version of yourself. His Leadership skills have helped us understand that to whom much is given much is required. He truly encourages a winning culture! We are extremely grateful for the people that believed in us, supported us, and took the time to invest in us.
