We had the good fortune of connecting with Schaleea Waites and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Schaleea, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
The end goal for me? Touching as many people as possible; with my craft and my aura. It’s been such a big thing for me since a child, to be the change that I want in the world… Day by day, I’m making it happen.

By the end of my career, I hope that I’ve touched as many people as possible. Through my music, my social media presence or the personal experiences that I share. I hope to heal as many people as possible, I hope my music acts as a bandaid to pain. I hope to bring people joy and laughter. I want the inspiration I leave, to make more people confident.

I want everyone to be comfortable with who they are, NO MATTER WHAT. By the end of my career, I want everybody to be unapologetically themselves.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m not like others, I speak my truth. I don’t do things to be liked, I take risks. I speak on personal things, that I’ve become strong enough to share with others and I speak on things that my generation sweeps under the rug.

I’m most excited for my lastest release, “I Said What I Said” the EP. I got to where I am today… with support and ambition. At the end of the day, I’m just a girl with a dream.

It hasn’t been easy, but life isn’t easy. Everything happens for a reason and there’s light at the end of the tunnel. I’ve overcome challenges with faith and prosperity. Along the way, I’ve learned that… you’ll lose people. I’ve learned that, you never stop learning. You’ll NEVER stop improving.

I want the world to know that, I’m just me. Not a rapper or a social media influencer, but just me. I’m a sister, daughter, friend – I’m just Schaleea.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I enjoy eating brunch, so I love the Biscuit Bar (Coppell and Granite Park), Honey Berry Pancakes and Cafe (Dallas/Carrollton), and Lazy Dog! I’m a mom to a fur baby!

Reunion Tower is something EVERYONE needs to experience! Alexas and I enjoy AT&T Discovery, when we want to hang out late! And just shopping – anywhere really.

Just getting out, and exploring. You’ll meet so many great people and experience so many great things.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to my mother, first off. Schalana. She’s my rock and I don’t think I’d be half the woman I am today, if I didn’t have such a great woman to look up too. She loves me for me and that’s made it so much easier to make it in this harsh world.

Shout out to my forever friend, Alexas. She’s the realest. She’s been here from the beginning, my first release, “Embarrassing” and she hasn’t left my side since. She always pushes me to continue no matter what life throws at me and I couldn’t be more thankful.

Lastly, BIG shoutout to the “Savage Gang”, also known as my social media family. TikTok to be exact. The love and support they show me… really warms my heart and I’m glad that I’m making them proud.
