We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Perez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samantha, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started my business during Covid when I was 16 years old. I have always aspired to be a business owner and when my Mom approached me with the idea of investing in a Circut machine I was intrigued. I have always had a creative side to me and I knew this was a great way to showcase that. We started making tumblers and shirts. We have now expanded to creating glass cups, tote bags, homecoming mums, graduation leis, and more.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am Craftsbysam and I like to say we are all things crafts. What sets me apart from others is I am willing to try any new ideas/projects. I have had customers ask me to create products I’ve never done before but they put their trust in me and I make their vision come to life. I am most proud of my graduation leis, cap toppers, and homecoming mums. I love seeing the excitement on the customer’s face when they have received a finished lei, topper, or mum. It makes me happy that my customers trust me to create unique items for their milestones. I got to where I am today with the help of social media. Platforms like Instagram and TikTok have helped my business grow. With social media, I can reach an audience outside of Dallas TX. It was not easy, I started my business at 16 and now at 20, I am still learning how business works. I have overcome these challenges with the help of my Mom, who guides me and who I consider my momanger. Lessons I have learned along the way are to not be scared to step outside of your comfort zone and always be consistent. I want the world to know that I love creating unique items for any occasion.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A place I would take my best friend is Bishop Arts in Dallas TX. Its a unique area where there is multiple restuarnts and bars as well as small business. I would take them to eat at Hunky’s because, in my opinion, those are one of the best burgers in town. Some cool areas are where there are murals painted on the side of buildings. These are a great place to take cute pictures. Stores I would take them to are Moonfire with unique jewelry and a coffee shop Espumoso Caffe with handcrafted drinks.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
