We had the good fortune of connecting with Laura Arnold and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laura, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I had two unexpected life events cause me to pause and really consider what I wanted to do with my life. The thing that first came to mind was that I wanted to make an impact on others and to be a light. From there, I honed in on what it is that I’ve always been passionate about and how I could combine that with making an impact. The answer came to me rather quickly as I have always had a passion for health and wellness. Naturally it made sense that I work as a health and wellness coach where I could make a direct impact on people’s lives. While that answer came fairly easily, the decision to go all in on my own business was harder. There was a lot of second-guessing involved regarding various ‘what-if’s’, doubts, and fears. But once I made the decision to go all in on creating my own business everything really fell into place, and I knew that it was the right choice. Now, I am thrilled to get up every day and serve my clients to the best of my ability. The reward of helping my clients meet their goals, and seeing the positive impact that physical fitness and wellness has on their lives is priceless. I am so excited to be in the position I am in now, and my only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner.

What should our readers know about your business?
There is nothing about owning a business that is easy. My mind is constantly running with my endless to-do list and it seems like there are never enough hours in the day. But at the same time, I have never been more driven and satisfied in my life! Something that sets me apart is that I truly want to get results for my clients. I want them to experience the life-changing impact that health and wellness can have on their lives. For me, fitness is just a catalyst for every other good thing in life, and I want to help my clients know and experience that. When they have success I feel successful and that continues to drive me day after day. I never get tired of hearing about their wins or the impact that I have made on their lives. It has of course come with it’s challenges! Although I have had a passion for health and wellness my entire life and studied and learned as much as I can, I am a new business owner. With that comes some amount of ‘imposter syndrome’ and self-doubt. The way I overcome this is by continuously putting the focus back on my clients. If I am meeting their needs and helping them achieve results, then everything else will fall into place.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Day 1: Play tourist – I would take them to all of the best museums in the city (The Perot, The Sixth Floor Museum, Dallas Museum of Art). We would finish the day with a dinner downtown enjoying the view from the Monarch. Day 2: Explore the city – I would take them to White Rock Lake, where we could walk and enjoy nature. Then head over to the Dallas Arboretum. Following that we would get dinner and drinks at one of my favorite spots in Lakewood, Sa Sa Sushi.
Day 3: Lower Greenville – I would take them to one of my favorite areas on Dallas for some day shopping + exploring. A few of my favorite spots include: HG Supply Co, Sister, Dodie’s, and of course Milk + Cream.
Day 4: Trinity Groves – I love this area, it boasts such a great view of the city and is stock full of great spots. We might grab drinks at White Rock Brewing Co, or The Manhattan Project, and then dinner at Beto & Son or Saint Rocco’s.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The person who has had the biggest impact on me and pushing me toward starting my own business is my partner, Ryan Wiggins. He has been a strong and steady rock in my life through many ups and downs. He pours positivity and encouragement into me, and he has been the biggest support in me starting my own business. I would certainly not be in the position I am in now if it wasn’t for him!
