We had the good fortune of connecting with Rosa Caballero and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rosa, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
My upbringing is very interesting. I was born in Texas, raised in the DMV (East Coast), and my parents are from El Salvador. So I literally have all these different types of cultures that defined me because they were my upbringing. I see things differently than the average person. I understand and love the cowboy lifestyle from Texas. Yet, I understand the Washington DC life of go-go and city life and love it as well. Just as much as I love my tropical, festive, Salvadorian roots. Growing up I always felt like I had to be in one category or had to choose a side to be in. Having to choose between being American, Salvadorian ,etc.. Now that I’m older I realized I never have to pick because I’m all those things. They all defined me, it’s who I am, and how I see the world..
Please tell us more about your art. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
My art is photography/videography. I’m literally freezing time. Capturing moments so they can last a lifetime. Honestly, it’s something that doesn’t even feel like work to me. It’s a lot of learning, a lot of growing, a lot of fun. I’m literally still in the middle of my journey. I’m learning everyday perfecting my craft. I left corporate America during the summer decided to go full time with my true passion. Nothing is easy, I’m working everyday, building my business. No days off like they say. I know one day it will pay off. My favorite part is that I am a part of individuals special day. I’ve had a lot of challenges along the way, and I know I will have challenges in the future because to be honest that’s just life in general. I overcome my challenges with putting God has my number one priority. It literally gives you a different perspective in life then you realize those challenges are not to be big. Mic drop.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a big foodie and I love to dance. You will most likely find me trying new restaurants or returning to restaurants I love. I normally hang out with my family or my best friend Armando .
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a big shout out to Fielder church in Arlington, TX. People always say it takes a village to raise a child; but they never mentioned once the child is raised. Let me tell you one thing.. that child turn into adult still needs the village. As an adult, you need a good support system. I definitely want to say Fielder Church has definitely been there for my family and I. In prayers, love, and just someone to talk to that gives good advice. They direct you the correct way. They have been my village. There is so much love and healing there.
