We had the good fortune of connecting with Nickquolette Barrett Barrett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nickquolette Barrett, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important fact behind my success and brand is consistency. When I began building my business, I had no idea what I was doing. However, I did know I needed to do something. I began to consistently work on my business little by little. Some days, I only had 20-30 minutes and other days I had several hours. I made it a point to do something daily in my business even if it meant posting a quick tip or client testimonial to social media which takes only a few minutes. I focused on getting my brand seen as often as possible to build credibility that led to my success.

I’m a 4x Certified Career Coach. I hold the following certifications:

CPRW – Certified Professional Résumé Writer
CEIP – Certified Employment Interview Professional
NCOPE – Nationally Certified Online Professional Expert (LinkedIn & Job Search Certification)

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
iRock Development Solutions, LLC dba iRock Résumés is a premier career development & career strategy firm specializing in résumé writing, LinkedIn branding and optimization, interview prep, and career coaching for individuals.

I am a sought out speaker and have spoke on national stages as well as online webinars and symposiums. I speak on career related topics, leadership, and LinkedIn business branding.

What sets me apart from others is that I have a 27+ year corporate career with 20+ years in various leadership roles including corporate training. I have experience in marketing & advertising, sales, P&C insurance, and non-profit leadership (church affiliations) and now running a business as a CEO for the last 7 years.

I am most proud of my track record of turning job applicants into job candidates. As a company, we live up to our tagline in that we help career professionals land the job of their dreams and create a career that rocks. Our clients are management level through CEO with a heavy focus in the insurance, Oil & Gas, and IT industries.

We are excited about our expansion into the B2B world. We now LinkedIn branding and optimization, outplacement and employee transition services, and employee training and development for small to medium size businesses.

We are most excited about launching the first and only Résumé Writing Business Certification program. In this program, I teach people how to create a side-gig income of $1000 or more a month using their writing skills. The go from program to launch in 30 days with booking clients within 90 days. In the current economy, we need more résumé writers. This program will teach the ins and outs to get started quickly.

I had to overcome a lot of challenges. One being not knowing that my side-gig would turn into a full-fledge company. I learned through a lot of trial and error. I use my learnings to teach others on what to do and more importantly, what not to do. In addition, I run my company alongside my full-time job as a leader of a team at a Fortune 36 P&C insurer. Finding the right balance and
Creating systems and workflows is what helps me balance both in addition to hiring a great team.

I want everyone to know that if I can create a company from the ground up, so can you. I bet on myself even when my own employer didn’t recognize the value I bring to the table. Now, I get to say I have no desire to promote to within the company as I am the CEO of my own company with employees to boot. In essence, when others say no to you. Say, yes to yourself and prove them wrong.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a friend would visit me, I would take them to Legacy Hall. The variety of food and entertainment is great. My favorite place to shop and just walk for a little exercise is North Park. It’s big and has stores for every income level.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First, I have to shout out my heavenly father, God. He is my rock and my fortress. His word keeps me grounded and shows me the way I should go when it comes to my business, my family, and my life. I often use the hashtags #GodismyCEO, #JesusismyDirector, and #TheAngelsaremyVAs.

Second, my family – my husband Rev. Dr. Irvin L. Barrett and daughter, Nadia Barrett. Without their understanding of my working late nights to build the business, I would have gotten as far as I am today.
