We had the good fortune of connecting with Ngozi Onwumere and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ngozi, how do you think about risk?
My life has always been about taking risk and falling forward. Thats what faith is. As an Olympian and music artist – Ive always known you have to take risk and put yourself out there to put your best foot forward.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a singer-songwriter out of Dallas. Sports and music have always been great outlets for me and the goal has always been to thrive in anything I do. There have been challenges in both – as an athlete my goal was to reach the highest tier of competition that I could and I did so becoming an Olympian – with music I am on my way brick by brick. I want the world to know as creatives – we grow through our music and its a process that can’t be rushed and innately we always are human first before any other title. We deserve to see ourselves thrive and resurface through challenges. Emergency releasing November 2nd and its been a growth process for me. From learning production , to having creative control over my visuals and the creative process – its been challenging and I am loving being an indie artist.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Im an outdoor person so a nice sit at Klyde Warren will do – to write, people watch, tap into the food trucks around or a walk through Dallas Museum would be great. It’s about who you go with in Dallas, not really where you go most times.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to my family, Jengerbread Marketing and Entrepaidneur for continually keeping me encouraged and helping me stay focused on the journey of becoming. Support systems are a big part of the formula.
