Meet Meli Burke | Makeup Artist & Hair Stylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Meli Burke and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Meli, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I’ve always been creative and curious. I think it is only right that I create for a living. Makeup is something that has given me happiness for so long. I love making people feel beautiful.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’ve worked very hard to get to where I am. I do my best to update my portfolio and my website constantly. As most small businesses will say your connections and marketing is key, so I always try to keep my connections even if that means trading services or even doing some gigs for free. Even one share can help a small business so I do my best to get my things out there.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them through downtown Dallas for sure and start off with brunch at Ellie’s! It’s such a fun spot. Then I’d probably go to the Dallas Arboretum and walk around and maybe even walk around white rock lake! My favorite Italian restaurant is called Veronas and that’s probably where I would end with dinner! There’s also the reunion tower, the Perot museum and also Dicks last resort! Always fun times there.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents, and sisters supported me through school so they for sure deserve so much recognition for that. My partner Tremaine is the person who keeps me going everyday and always believes in me, and my classmates from L Makeup Institute who have at this point become my family. I love them so much. My instructors at L Makeup pushed me to be the best makeup artist I can be and they have for sure played a role in my success.
