We had the good fortune of connecting with Mayra Lizarraga and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mayra, what role has risk played in your life or career?
My entire business is based around the risks I have taken. I never imagined that making tumblers would ever lead to where I am now. It all started with me going live in a large tumbler group to talk about a tumbler hack. I was nervous, but took a risk and that one live changed my life! Fast forward to June of 2021, I took a risk again when I launched my Merch, and I am so glad I went for it. Back in 2019 I started a women’s online boutique that I was so passionate about. Unfortunately It was not my time, and we went out business. It was devastating, I was terrified to launch my merch this summer, but it has been the best decision ever! My precious followers are so loving and supportive. I am living my dream, because of them. All of this has come from taking risks and just going for it. No regrets!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I love creating, making tumblers allows me to express my ideas in whatever way I want. A stainless steel tumbler is a white canvas and the possibilities of how you can transform it, are endless. I love taking risks in my designs and experimenting. I am not afraid to make mistakes, I always just go for it and that has allowed me to create some pretty neat stuff. I do the same for my crafter clothing line. I like to experiment with bright colors and colorful logos. Getting to where I was not easy, I started out in my hot and humid North Carolina garage. I used to sit on a $20 stool and work on a plastic fold out table. I worked long hours in the summer heat, the garage felt like an oven at times. I didn’t care because I love what I do. I worked countless 15 hours days, as a matter of fact I still do, it is not easy, but it is so worth it. The most important thing I want people to know about my story is that, it does not matter what your background is, or what challenges you face. If there is a will there is always a way, and pushing through those rough days is so worth it. I come from immigrant parents who sacrificed everything so that my siblings and I could have better opportunities and I work hard because I do not want their sacrifice to be in vein. If you are passionate about something, if it truly lights your soul on fire, move heaven and earth to pursue that dream. I was terrified to launch a clothing store again since I already had a failed attempt, but I am so happy I went for it. I hope this inspires someone to chase their dreams, because life is too short to not love what you do.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My best friend as visited me a coup[e times here in Destin FL. We have had some really amazing times. Our most recent adventure is that we went on a BFF Disney World trip. Just the two of us, we drove 6 hours from Destin FL. We went to Epcot to drink around the world (it is a must! Highly recommend) We went to Magic Kingdom and wore matching ears every single day, coordinated our outfits as if we were little girls. Waiting in long lines to meet the Disney Princesses and ate until we had tummy aches. I will never forget that trip, I am looking forward to many many more. One thing her and I love to do is go visit creepy abandoned buildings and “ghost hunt” even though we are both chickens. We are fascinated , but all things spooky and conspiracy theories etc. Every night while at Disney we google Disney conspiracy theories, you would be surprised what you find. We just like being wild and free, we are happy humans.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I can not narrow my shout out to just one person, because my support system runs deep. My husband is the very first person on that list, he believes in me even when I don’t believe in myself. Thanks to his encouragement I have been able to pursue my dreams. I also have to shoutout my family. My parents are the world’s most supportive humans. My best friend Morgan makes all of my visions come to life with her incredible artistic ability to create digital logos for my Apparel line. Not to mention she is my rock. I have some of the sweetest , supportive friends a girl could ask for. My inner circle is so small, but rock solid. Do not even get me started on my sweet Baddiee followers, they are the heart of my business. All of this is possible because their support has no limits. I am living my dream because of them, and that is something that I will always be grateful for. My followers are my whole heart!
