We had the good fortune of connecting with Marquia Fenner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marquia, why did you pursue a creative career?
My full time job is in engineering in the telecom field. I’ve always loved art and design, but my logical and analytical side has taken over my career choices. During the pandemic I had much more time to fully explore my artistic side, and for once share it with my friends and family. The support I received was amazing and led me to start my own art business.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always done arts and crafts and come from a creative family. During the pandemic I had a lot of free time due to canceled activities and trips. I started practicing making artwork for myself before sharing it with others. I focus on creating quality artwork and always make sure my customers are happy with their custom items by giving status updates. This way they are fully a part of the process and can make adjustments if needed. Whether it’s a custom or ready made piece they purchase from me, I want my customers to know that it was made with love, passion and careful attention to detail.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So I love seafood, so I would take them a crab boil at one of my favorites, Shell Shack or Red Claw. I love wine also, so we can visit Happy Hour Hike in Plano and visit all the shops along the way. We can grab a slice of cake from Cake Bar at Trinity Groves and stroll across the bridge to see the skyline. Klyde Warren Park always has a ton of things going on, plus another great view of the city. For a night out we can visit Deep Ellum and bar hop.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My immediate family and several close friends are extremely supportive. They always share my work and purchase it as gifts for others.
