We had the good fortune of connecting with Llexi Wales and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Llexi, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have a deep love for community and a desire to serve the needs of others through volunteer work, food drives, clothing donations, and recycling. For the longest time I questioned how to partner this with my beauty career. It was like a light went on one day. I realized I had time to help do my part to save earth and enjoy my passions while giving back. ‘Beauty Manifestations Spa’ was inspired by my desire to help others heal, better self care and see their beauty from within. While growing through learning to love my “new self” with Vitiligo after having my son, I realized that “through prayer, meditation, holistic living and self-care spa services” that I was able to find a sacred place of refuge for myself and wanted to offer that experience to others through esthetics. We could all use a moment of wellness to disconnect and heal those inner parts that reflect our outer glow. I am beauty with an impact; a portion of proceeds and services at Beauty Manifestations Spa is donated each quarter to various non-profits and charities amongst the Carrollton, TX and DFW,TX community.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It’s a privilege to say that I’ve had nearly a decade career in luxury cosmetics, spa and retail management. Many failed attempts at what I thought my path would look like drove me to reflect and soul search. It was in taking time for personal development that I realized I was relentlessly chasing a “title” seeking validation. Although my skills allowed me to elevate, I can attest that, the level of responsibility required to handle the weight of a position tests your will and stretches your capacity to be able to manage yourself and others. I have learned to choose to see the opportunity in the difficulties placed in my way rather than the difficulty in the opportunities; that is what sets apart a positive and a negative thinker. There were times that I felt worn out, like it wasn’t worth it, I got depressed from not seeing the results I desired and even burned out at a few points. While I was exhausted, I knew that it was okay for me to experience my big emotions, I always told myself “just don’t live there”. In my many years of entrepreneurship, I have been coached on the power of the mindset. I believe that Earl Nightingale puts it best when he reveals the secret to success is, simply put, “We become what we think of”. One of the most important attributes to my success is the power of meditation, organization, and affirmation. I wrote down my dreams and goals on sticky notes and posted them in my closet, this was my private place to dream and envision. I would declare to myself everyday “I AM living my dream come true!” This sent a warm glow through my body and I believe the energy and intention helped me to produce what is known as ‘Beauty Manifestations’. If you’re looking to start living more intentionally, my pro tip is to look up the ‘The Miracle Morning’ by Hal Elrod on YouTube, it changed my life, thank me later! A word of advice I have for entrepreneurs is that people don’t buy into something you do because of its value; people invest their time and money into YOU and your journey. Each lesson I learned along the way has allowed me to cultivate an environment that fosters positive spiritual healing, connection, and allows my client’s needs to be met through the power of customization. No matter where my path has taken me my clients have remained loyal, through various social media platforms following my journey, encouraging me along the way. It is because of their unrelenting support that I believed in myself from my front room, clients homes, practicing on family and friends in between work and classes, finishing school while homeless, my 2nd bedroom turned office/ spa room to now having my own spa suite just a short few years later! Someone pinch me… THIS IS REAL! I truly appreciate every kind soul that has sat in my chair and exchanged an incredible time of transformation and your highest glow! Beauty Manifestations is so much more than spa services, it’s my life’s work, love for musical& cosmetic art, and my passion to pour into my community. I am most excited to share my expertise in threading, makeup artistry and makeup lessons, custom skin care, facials and waxing. There is so much more in the works that has yet to come as I advance my techniques with continuing education. I truly look forward to seeing you in my chair!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Okay so if my besties just pulled up, I know they’re hungry, we’re SO stopping at my favorite spot ‘The Spiral Diner’. This is the best place to indulge in the most deliciously crafted vegan comfort foods! Also take pictures, with the vintage décor of course, the model in me loves a good exposed brick background for selfies and group shots when traveling. Next we would head up Woodall Rogers Freeway for a little culture and enjoy the views at the Dallas Art Museum. This area is great for a nice strut, architectural appreciation and interactive exhibits. As we exit my besties would enjoy the sound of amazing live performances, quick treats and bites to eat with all of the local food trucks that swing by and I would share how we’re conveniently located across the street from one of the coolest resourcefully crafted greenery areas made for the whole family, also known as ‘Klyde Warren Park’. This is also a great place to take pictures under the archways, in front of the water fountain installations, and grab your favorite martini at the bar, just before we hop on the trolley for a free ride into the heart of downtown Dallas- where the true fun begins; can someone say Deep Ellum? Deep Ellum is home to art culture festivals, murals, vintage boutiques, comedy clubs and some of the best night life scenes in Dallas, grab your camera and Hitch a ride on a local digital scooter to spice up the on-foot travel. PS be sure to bring an empty stomach because what is Texas without a few tacos and a margarita from Ruins? Fresh air and time to take in gratitude for travel is essential, what better way to do so than in the presence of beautiful floral arrangements? I am passionate about nature and encourage everyone to visit the arboretum, plants are dope and are essential to us living and breathing!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many wonderful people I can think of with gratitude in my heart, but I’m going to start with shouting out God! I wouldn’t have made it this far in grace and love without Him, he gets the glory for my story. Thank you for blessing me with the desires on my heart and the resources to surpass them, exceedingly. Shoutout to (my son) Pernell-Aaron, for being my motivation, my why, my heart and JOY, you give me a reason to smile daily and remind me that it’s worth overcoming, and breaking generational curses every season. To Pernell, you are incredibly generous and I will never forget all of the ways you’ve supported our family so I can live my dreams, thank you! To Godmama-Anna thank you for always being there, showing me what it means to stay the course and the power of financial independence. To Christy for believing in me at the start of my cosmetics career and investing time with tough love to help me become the boss lady I am today. To PajNyiag, thank you for always seeing the light in me and being my pillar of encouragement and sound mind. Apostle Ken and Lady Dana for showing me the love of God, prophesying this and encouraging me and praying along the way. To Tamica for the mentorship and encouragement over the years and helping me pull things together. Shoutout to my clients across the globe, your contributions are invaluable. Your support provides so much more than likes shares and follows; it is a stable environment for my family, empowers a mother to live her dreams, this blesses your community and beyond, and sows into the “clean-earth initiative” for the future of generations to come. Thank you! Shoutout to Sarah Mae Hess for nominating me for this incredible opportunity to be interviewed; From the moment we met in CECPTA I could tell we would be good friends, but never did I imagine being able to serve the DFW community together in our businesses. You are a true gem and remind me that there’s power in supporting one another! #bossmomtrepreneurs
