We had the good fortune of connecting with Lipika Devara and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lipika, how does your business help the community?
A.W.E. (Addressing Wellness and Equity) is making a significant impact in the community and the world by striving to build a future where healthcare knows no boundaries. Through a variety of initiatives and events, A.W.E. is actively working to bridge the gap between underrepresented communities and their access to medical technologies and mental health resources.

One of the standout achievements of A.W.E. is its collaboration with organizations like the American Red Cross, where it spearheaded a mental health campaign in Washington, D.C. This campaign reached a broad audience of 20,000 impressions, bringing attention to the importance of mental health support for soldiers and veterans, both nationally and internationally. By addressing International Humanitarian Law and advocating for mental health policies, A.W.E. is ensuring that marginalized communities receive the care they need.

Moreover, A.W.E. is dedicated to empowering youth globally by providing them with resources and skills to spread awareness about pressing global health issues. Through participation in service, fundraising, and advocacy, A.W.E. is fostering a generation of informed and compassionate leaders who are equipped to tackle wellness and equity challenges worldwide.

The impact of A.W.E. extends beyond borders, as demonstrated by its participation in international conferences like EarthX, where it highlighted the importance of mental health conservation. By engaging with professionals and leaders like Priyanka Deo, A.W.E. is amplifying its message and reaching diverse audiences.

Additionally, A.W.E. organizes tailored events such as mental health awareness gatherings specifically designed for underrepresented communities like the brown community. These events provide a platform for open discussions, resource sharing, and interactive activities aimed at destigmatizing mental health topics.

Events like “A Reason To Live” further illustrate A.W.E.’s commitment to promoting mental well-being. By encouraging student participation and providing a space for self-expression, A.W.E. is nurturing a supportive environment where individuals can find solace and connection.

Overall, A.W.E.’s dedication to addressing wellness and equity is evident in its multifaceted approach to community engagement, advocacy, and empowerment. Through its initiatives, A.W.E. is not only making a difference locally but also contributing to a global movement towards inclusive healthcare and mental wellness.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Our work at A.W.E. is driven by a passion for making a positive impact on global wellness and equity, like in the realms of mental health. What sets us apart is our multifaceted approach to advocacy, education, and community engagement.

One of our proudest initiatives is our Mental Health Awareness Event, where we create a safe space for open discussions and provide resources to promote mental well-being. We believe that fostering conversations around mental health is crucial in breaking down stigma and ensuring everyone has access to the support they need.

The “One Reason to Live” project is another endeavor close to our hearts. This initiative encourages individuals to reflect on what gives them purpose and hope, fostering a sense of connection and resilience within our community.

In honor of Earth Day, we launched the “Paint a Bag” project, promoting environmental sustainability while also raising awareness about mental health. This creative endeavor allowed volunteers to express themselves artistically while supporting a meaningful cause.

Looking ahead, we’re excited about our upcoming collaborations with organizations like Promise2Live and Impact NGO in Jaipur, India. These partnerships will allow us to expand our reach and support underserved communities, particularly children in slum areas, by providing essential resources and mental health support.

Our podcast series is another avenue through which we share inspiring stories and insights from a diverse range of guests. By amplifying voices from different backgrounds and professions, we hope to inspire and empower others to join us in our mission.

Our ongoing programs, including initiatives focused on hygiene, medical supplies, patient care, and mental health, demonstrate our commitment to holistic wellness and equity. We believe that addressing these interconnected issues is essential in building a healthier and more equitable world for all.

Our journey hasn’t been easy, but overcoming challenges has only strengthened our resolve and taught us valuable lessons along the way. We’ve learned the importance of resilience, collaboration, and adaptability in navigating obstacles and achieving our goals.

Ultimately, we want the world to know that A.W.E. is more than just an organization; we’re a community of changemakers dedicated to creating a future where healthcare knows no boundaries. Together, we’re spreading awareness, advocating for change, and empowering individuals to prioritize their mental well-being. Join us on this journey toward a healthier, more equitable world.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
To start off my week-long adventure with my best friend in Dallas, I would take her to a good breakfast spot at Ascension Coffee in the Design District before diving into the interactive exhibits at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. For lunch, savor some of the best BBQ in Texas at Pecan Lodge in Deep Ellum, where we can also spend the afternoon exploring street art and unique shops. For the evening/night, we will have a movie night and catch up on life.

The next day, begin with breakfast at Bread Winners Café & Bakery in Uptown, then immerse ourselves in the extensive collections at the Dallas Museum of Art. For lunch, grab a bite from the food trucks at Klyde Warren Park and relax in this urban oasis. Spend the afternoon marveling at modern sculptures at the Nasher Sculpture Center. Dinner at Uchi with innovative Japanese dishes, and finish the night with our favorite show and ice cream.

For a day of nature and adventure, begin with a Texan-style breakfast at The Rustic, then wander through the beautifully manicured gardens at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. Pack a picnic lunch to enjoy at White Rock Lake, where we can also rent a kayak or bike to explore the scenic trails and waters(that’s her choice). Dinner at Tei-An in One Arts Plaza offers authentic Japanese soba noodles and other delicacies, followed by craft cocktails at The People’s Last Stand.

Day five is perfect for shopping and relaxation. Start with breakfast at Cafe Brazil in the Bishop Arts District, then browse the unique boutiques, art galleries, and vintage shops in this charming neighborhood. Next, we will treat ourselves to a luxurious spa experience at The Joule hotel in the afternoon. Dinner at CBD Provisions features farm-to-table American cuisine, and spend the evening enjoying the vibrant nightlife and live music in Deep Ellum.

We will begin our sixth day with breakfast at Overeasy in The Statler hotel before taking a guided tour of AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, in nearby Arlington. Return to Dallas for lunch at The Rustic, enjoying live music and hearty Texan fare, then spend the afternoon exploring the Dallas Zoo. Dinner at Javier’s Gourmet Mexicano with upscale Mexican cuisine in a sophisticated setting, and finish the night with Indian music and home cooked food.

On our final day, enjoy a relaxed breakfast at Dream Café in Uptown, then explore the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum for a fascinating look at American history and the presidency. For lunch, savor creative tacos at Torchy’s Tacos before indulging in some last-minute shopping at NorthPark Center, where you’ll find high-end brands and unique stores.
