We had the good fortune of connecting with Lexie Burton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lexie, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success and my brand is being me. There are a lot of great photographers out there but there is only one me. My brand/business is me. I am open, honest and vulnerable with my audience. I stay true to myself and know that I am not for everyone, and that’s okay. My clients come in and feel so comfortable with me because they know me. I’m not a stranger who is taking vulnerable pictures of them, I’m their friend. It’s truly what makes my sessions special.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started as a wedding photographer many moons ago (I am still taking a few weddings per year), boudoir came up over and over again but I avoided it like the plague. Until I couldn’t anymore. I was being pulled into it. I released the chokehold I had on what I thought I should do and jumped all in to boudoir.

My life has never been the same. I continue to grow as an artist, a business owner and a person. I get to create badass art that hangs on peoples walls. I get to be edgy, I get to show softness, I get to show women their power. I have become a better person in life because of boudoir and my clients. I am constantly growing and trying to be the best version of me (person and artist) for my clients.

Was it easy, NOPE! But I wouldn’t trade this journey in for the world. And it’s only getting better. After a recent trip to NYC, I can feel the evolution of my work continuing to grow. I am beyond excited for what’s to come and can’t wait to show more women how badass they are.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh man, this is tough. I’m not an overly exciting, party type girl.

I love a good dive bar with a burger and sports like Broncos.
Paddleboarding at Grapevine Lake is on the list.
Downtown Fort Worth for dancing and night life fun.
Now that the weather is getting warmer, pool parties in Dallas are a must!
Love Paradiso in the Bishop Arts District, followed by walking around and shopping!
I also follow Dallas Love List on IG and love finding new suggestions there for places to eat, drink and have fun!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would have to thank my audience. My clients.
They are the real MVP here. Without them I would have nothing. Clients don’t owe me their business, I have to earn it and I’m so grateful to be able to do with so many women. My clients become like friends and it’s truly the most magical thing I have ever been able to do.

And of, course my family! My fiancé and son have been so supportive through building my business and building up my studio. We all get down on ourselves at times and those two have a special ability to lift me up when I need it. They always believe in me, even when I don’t.

I am truly lucky to have so much love and support in my community!
