We had the good fortune of connecting with LaToya Haynes-Piper and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LaToya, what do you attribute your success to?
One of the most important factors behind my success would be the people I love that are close to me. And one of those people is my husband. I remember when I first started Travel Romantic Getaways. I thought about what my niche would be and I thought about my husband and I and how I would love the opportunity to plan Romantic Getaways for couples. During our relationship, my husband and I rarely traveled. And then I decided one day to surprise him for his birthday by taking him to the Riviera Maya/Cancun, Mexico. He had a blast and that smile he had on his face while on vacation was priceless. And I thought, “What if I could always put a smile on my clients face like the one he shows me on this trip?” Taking a vacation is a priceless moment and experience you keep as long as you are on this earth. Even after our lives are over and we transition, our loved ones have memories they can remember us by. Memories are such a symbolic thing to have and planning a couple’s getaway or a romantic escape for a couple where they can enjoy themselves and their love and intimacy while on vacation is important to me.

What should our readers know about your business?
I have to say I’m excited about 2021 and beyond in travel. I started to realize that things like this will happen. It happened before I became a travel agent and it will continue to happen and we have to be resilient as travel advisors. The travel industry took a massive hit when the Covid-19 hit us back in February/March 2020 and honestly I was discouraged by the Pandemic and how it affected my travel business. After a while, I started to realize there will be situations like this that will happen again and I need to know how to respond to it in an effective way. There will always be something that will knock us down but it is how we respond to it and get back up. Do I continue to be discouraged and feel helpless or do I get up and make plans and create opportunities, so when people are ready to travel again, I will be the first to come to mind to help them book their romantic getaways, honeymoons, vow renewals, babymoons, and family vacations? So, I’ve been focused by learning new destinations, researching travel protocols, networking, and making an effort to get back out there and help plan and book vacations…One Couple At A Time.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, one of the destinations a lot of people been traveling to before the Pandemic and even now that’s always been a popular destination is Las Vegas. I have had a few clients and even new inquires of people wanting to take a trip here because it’s in the states and of course it’s the state that never sleeps. A lot of people enjoy traveling here to gamble but there are so many other things you can do besides gamble. If you’re a couple that enjoys wine, you can check out the Pahrump Valley Winery and make a day out of it by having lunch there. They have a white table dining room that overlooks their vineyard. You could also check out a Las Vegas show, preferably Cirque Du Soleil as they have over 6 different shows at 6 different hotels. And if you are more of an adventurous person, definitely consider possibly doing a joint zipline with views of the Las Vegas Strip. If you’re thinking of traveling internationally and want to stay at a great All-Inclusive resort, there are tons of amazing resorts but you can check out The Grand Riviera Princess Hotel located in the Riviera Maya, Mexico. I had the opportunity to visit this resort back in 2019 with my husband for his birthday and it was great! This resort is a 5-star hotel that represents one of the best locations on the beach, allowing you to enjoy fine sand and crystal clear water in a comfortable and unique way. One last great resort I wanted to mention is Sandals Grande Antigua. This resort is great for its service and is beautiful to look at. The food is great and this adults-only resort is wonderful to have a great experience with the one you love. One thing I really enjoyed about this resort is the beach. It was incredible and the water was so warm and beautiful to watch as you relax with a great alcoholic beverage in hand.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I definitely want to give my husband, Ernest Piper, credit for supporting me in everything I’ve done in my life. He’s so supportive and definitely keeps me going through the good times and my learning experiences. My family is a great support system to lean on when I need them.
