We had the good fortune of connecting with Latoya Cooper and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Latoya, we’d love to hear about a book that’s had an impact on you.
Music Meets The Boardroom is eager to provide a need the music community has been craving for, which is thriving creative businesses and strong legacy builders – led by creatives themselves. It’s commonplace for recording artists to take voice or instrument lessons throughout their music career. However, not many take the time to hone their business skills and later find themselves behind the eight-ball when it comes to running their desired business, it simply has not been encouraged culturally. Music Meets The Boardroom is committed to changing the narrative in which creatives show up in the world and we believe it starts with a strong business foundation. Gifted people are not just “Gifted” they are powerful! We are devoted to helping as many creatives as possible find power in their gifts. Music Meets The Boardroom is making a difference by sending creative souls back into the world business savvy and prepared with confidence to take more control of their careers. We help the world by empowering creative entrepreneurs to be dedicated strong legacy builders, not only for themselves, but for the generations they leave behind.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Music Meets The Boardroom is focused on helping Ambitious Artists find purpose, self-empowerment, and strategy to execute God’s Vision for their gift. The organization offers workshops, conferences and consulting services designed to empower the Indie Artist to build strong business and budget savvy practices. We host our events in an actual boardroom, we want our legacy members to embrace and own the room so they are confident to represent their business in any setting. We not only provide our legacy members with valuable information, we walk them through how to apply it successfully. We are most proud when we see legacy members applying what they have learned and sharing it with others. Music Meets The Boardroom also has a podcast accessible via all podcast platforms and Youtube. The podcast highlights creatives from all over the world and we discuss music industry-related topics in line with Music Meets The Boardroom’s mission. We are excited to create a platform for ambitious artists to learn from each other and from creatives in the music industry who have walked the journey many are seeking. “It is hard being an artist, if we can create a platform for artists to glean from others successes, failures and hopefully give them a step up in their journey. Then we have done our job!”Building Music Meets The Boardroom has not been easy, there are a lot of failures and long nights, but the love for the mission keeps us going each day. Some of my valuable lessons learned include: 1.) It is important to be in alignment in life. When we are in alignment everyone around us is in alignment as well and it’s a beautiful experience. We are able to witness the most amazing elements of people in this space, because it brings out the highest frequencies within us. People are happy and effective! 2.) I have learned to trust my inner voice and intuition. it will guide you through the storms. 3.) It is important to bring your vision to life, to show people what is possible, it helps other people believe in their own possibilities. This is what changes the world! During the birth of Music Meets The Boardroom I learned that I am a fighter! I don’t give up on what I feel in my heart is right easy. I am committed to succeeding and the success of others. I plan to leave this earth empty, giving all that I got to making the world a better place for generations to come.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
It would be a very adventurous time together for sure, I love pushing the boundaries on experiences! 1.) We would start the week cruising the streets in a red drop top convertible admiring the beautiful skyline of the city. We would turn the music up and let the wind blow through our hair! 2.) Mid-week we would skydive at Dallas Skydive Center and end the day with snow cones. 3.) We would dress up and dine at Five Sixty By Wolfgang Puck, perched on top of Reunion Tower 561 ft in the air. Order the best drinks in the house and be the life of the room. 4.) We would end the week with a relaxing day at Spa Castle enjoying unique flavored margaritas, and laying poolside in the sexiest swimsuits we can find.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The Music Meets The Boardroom family truly believes in quality over quantity. I keep a small group of great friends and family around me, it’s a safe space where we can be ourselves judgment free. We support and celebrate each other’s successes. I would like to dedicate this shoutout to the following earth angels. 1.) To our Music Meets The Boardroom ‘Legacy Members’ who are out in the world expanding on the mission and helping other creatives grow. Thank you! 2.) Our small, but mighty team Arbara Rankins and Abbey Solomon. They help to keep the boat afloat each week, grateful for them both. They are committed to the mission of the brand and the success of each and every client. 3.) My baby sister Ebony Cooper who is always there to be a shoulder to cry on and share her rational reality checks. 4.) Damon K. Clark Vocal Studios for helping me find clarity around my musical mission. 5.) Brian Johns for being a great friend, little brother and creating a safe space to share wins in life. 6.) Andrea Wallace 288 Vocal Studios for motivation toward becoming more confident as a recording artist and business owner. 7.) My higher-power who gives me strength to push forward each day toward fulfilling the Music Meets The Boardroom Vision and Mission.
