We had the good fortune of connecting with LaShonda and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LaShonda, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to get away from the robotic 9 to 5 life that corporate america offers. I’m a mom and not having the flexibility to be able to be apart of my children’s life when it came to school events and other extracurricular activities bothered me when I worked for someone else. Now, I’m creating generational wealth for my family and until I became self-employed that seemed impossible. I also have a passion for the people, so being able to educate my community along the way is definitely a bonus.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
When I became a licensed Realtor I was over the moon excited because I knew the possibilities were endless from that moment on. All the studying, testing and stress was now going to pay off and I could hit the ground running, however I quickly realized it wasn’t going to be that easy. I now needed to decide what type of Real Estate Agent I wanted to be. Now that I had the certification, it was time for me to put my big girl pants on and jump out of my comfort zone’s, like being shy about certain things and going the extra mile versus playing it safe. I mean it was really going to require me to rebrand myself from the grown up LaShonda to now the professional expert “LaShonda The Realtor” and that required a lot of inner healing, refocusing and many days of affirming to myself with prayer and positive thoughts. NOW, my passion for helping others (I.e. my community) I take pride in knowing I’m educating them, encouraging them and guiding them down a path that could create generational wealth for their families as well as break some generational curses. Throughout this entire journey of becoming a successful brand and Realtor I’ve learned that not even the closest ones to you will just hand it to you, YOU GOTTA PUT IN THE WORK & make sure it’s UNDENIABLE!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh that’s a fun one! My best friend and I are always trying new places in the DFW area. But if I’m planning a BESTIE-WEEKEND I’d definitely hit up the At&t Discovery District, for vids and pics of course because the aesthetics there are AMAZING! Then we’d go to deep ellum for some good food and vibes, because the turn up is real on that side and last but not least we’d have tour some of the rooftop bars for not only the views of the Dallas skyline but also to of course take some amazing pictures & videos so we can capture everything about that weekend.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First & foremost God gets all the glory and beyond that I would love to shout out those closest to me that push and encourage me to keep going every single day and that is my children, my family, my mentors within and outside of my sponsoring brokerage and of course every last one of my clients that have trusted me to help them attain homeownership.
