We had the good fortune of connecting with LaShaunte Beathea and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi LaShaunte, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My business was started because I could not find any clothing that supported or promoted black culture. I was searching for a shirt for my toddler daughter to wear to daycare for Black History Month and could not find anything at all. I also found out that the daycare did not celebrate Black History Month, so I bought a cutting machine and made her a shirt myself. That’s where it all began.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I actually used to work in Corporate America. I worked in Accounting for a freight company until 2019 when I delivered my twins. With 3 kids under 3 years old at home, my husband and I decided that it would be best for me to not return to work. This is where I stepped into the blogger and influencer world. I am a blogger and social media creative where I share my journey into motherhood with my unique kids as well as participate in brand partnerships with other companies to share their products on my platforms. Also I am the owner of Beahive Boutique where we create statement apparel to celebrate black culture. We create tees that can encourage people to be their bold, unapologetic selves.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When my best friend comes to town we are going to have the best time. We will start with drinks at Gloria’s for brunch, then go to the Galleria for some shopping. After shopping we’ll meet back up with our husbands and kids and take them out. Our kids are all still small so we will make sure to take them to Legoland, Peppa Pig World, Dallas Aquarium, SeaQuest Fort Worth, Fort Worth Zoo, and of course, Main Event. She is also a social media influencer so we would definitely go to Sundance Square to get some beautiful scenic shots there for our platforms.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My business would not be successful without the help of my family and friends. Many say that family and friends do not support you in business endeavors, but that is not the case with my family and friends. They have shown up and shown out for Beahive Boutique since its inception. From buying from my website, referring new customers to me, and sharing all of my social media posts- they have been our number one supporters since the beginning.
