We had the good fortune of connecting with Lane Tunstall and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lane, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always loved to arrange food and have been making charcuterie boards at home for family and friends for several years. In 2019, my youngest child was starting school making it the ideal time to turn this passion into a business.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am most proud of the care and thought that goes into every product from our $25 boxes to our more extravagant grazing tables feeding 300 wedding guests. We love when our customers come to us with an idea and we can turn their vision into a reality creating custom boards for that special anniversary gift or birthday party. The start of covid was definitely a challenge. We pivoted from being primarily an event and wedding business to delivering boxes, boards, and DIY charcuterie kits all over DFW for families to enjoy during quarantine. We loved seeing the smiles our charcuterie experiences brought to faces as couples participated in our virtual classes for an at-home date night and how appreciative recipients were when a company ordered boards for all their employees.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would bring the friend to Roanoke, the unique dining capital of Texas. I am proud to join the business owners of Oak Street as the variety of businesses is amazing while still having a small-town feel. Of course, we would have to start our outing with a charcuterie board from Board + Brie then grab a beer at Soul Fire Brewing Company before checking out the unique items and fun gifts at Roanoke Trading Company and Madijaks. Food and shopping are definitely my fave and Roanoke has it all!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It’s honestly hard to explain how essential my team is to the success of Board + Brie. Due to high demand during the 2020 holiday rush, everyone worked longer hours to fulfill orders, sacrificing time that would have been spent with family. I’m grateful for their dedication, continuous support and loyalty as they help me turn this charcuterie dream into a thriving business.
