We had the good fortune of connecting with Kyle Mendes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kyle, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
We pursued an artistic career because we were always fascinated with both the creation and performance aspects to music. As kids growing up, listening to albums, watching music videos and concerts… that’s exactly what we wanted to do. Kyle and I are proud to say we are full time in music. Not an easy task to say the least.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
1) Please tell us more about your art. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. We are a Canadian born, twin brother duo, hailing from Dallas Texas; and we create interpersonal music inspired by 80s new wave, dance electronic, and rock music. Thanks to quarantine we have had a lot of time to reimagine our sound and direction that we can’t wait to share with the world. 2) How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. We never quit… NITE is nearly 6 years old (I think?) and it feels like we are just now getting started. We’ve struggled a lot as touring musicians as well as recording artists. We have suffered our share of set backs but at the end of it all, we do this because we love it. That’s what we learn over and over again and at this moment in time, there is nothing more we’d like to do. 3) What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story? Now we are free more than ever… now is the time to create… We are open to collaborate and help other artists create, mix, master and produce. So please feel free to reach out to us! contact@wearethenite.com

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Denton and my favorite spot is West Oak Coffee Bar. I’m a sucker for their coffee, it’s just so dang good. They also have amazing pastries and food. I now go for the chicken slider and fries. On the other end, I miss Three Links and Club DaDa in Deep Ellum, Dallas.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Because of quarantine, we had to get creative to make ends meet. We are now mixing, mastering, producing and remixing other artists. Such as Twin Tribes, Melotone, Panic Priest and Most Modern. These artists deserve the shout out, keeping us alive and busy.
