We had the good fortune of connecting with Kuextion and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kuextion, how do you think about risk?
Risk is part of the game, you win some and you lose some but all you need is one opportunity. For me, risk applies to the type of content that I put out. I’ve been able to experiment with different sounds than my audience is accustomed to , for example the track “Zoom” featuring Dezya on my latest album Titled “It Ain’t Luck.” Zoom is a mix of Pop, Edm and Hip-hop. Although I am aware that this isn’t what listeners are used to, I am not afraid to venture out into the unknown and try different things.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am really hands on in with my craft, whether it’s with the production or visuals associated with my songs. I’m glad that I got the opportunity to work with YGTUT as me and my boys used to bump his Album Preacher’s Son back in our High School days. It was great to have him in the picture, I told him during the production of our lead single “I Can’t Be Mad” that this was “the one” and said to him that it only made sense to feature him on that particular track, everything just aligned up that way. I credit a great deal of my progress so far to persistence. I believe you will get where ever you want as long as there is a will and fail only when you quit. The hardest part of the journey was and always had been finding my sound again, as an artist you constantly have to reinvent yourself or overcome a creativity block. Some days you got it and some days you don’t but when you got it, you got it good and that’s exactly how I am. My latest album was initially supposed to be an EP but I went back to the drawing board because I had no idea how I was going to tie the initial tracks together to fit the theme of my Album, so I went and started from scratch and as I kept going, everything started to come together. I then decided to upgrade this project to an Album because I had more than enough to say on tracks at this point. Long story short do not be afraid to reinvent yourself or go back to the drawing board, you may find that the final product may be even better than before.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would tell them to visit Lake Ray Hubbard in Rockwall, Tx. There are many great food spots in this area with a range of choices such as seafood or barbeque along the view of the Lake.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to thank everyone who was involved with my recent Album including YGTUT, WESTSIDE BOOGIE, Dezya and Malik Moses. This group of artists really helped make my vision come to life.
