We had the good fortune of connecting with Kisha Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kisha, what inspires you?
I have always loved my industry. I have literally made over 8000 mums in my 20-year career in this business. However, the most inspiring part of what I do comes from Mums Inc. There is something about seeing someone accomplish their goals. It’s the joy and feeling of accomplishment that it brings them that makes me feel so blessed to be a part of this crazy industry. It is easy to say that what we do is a life luxury. But these women are warriors and out of the war they fight is this wonderful beautiful customized product. Watching these businesses flourish and accomplish things they never thought they would or could is the most inspiring thing. I feel like inspiring is not a strong enough term to describe it. Every single day I am more and more proud of what I do and what these ladies and gentlemen accomplish together. It is nothing short of amazing.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Everything I do in my life professionally and as a business owner is based on the growth of people. I started my Homecoming mum business a few years after I started my IT career. It was originally just something I loved and I wanted to make extra money. The more I learned the more I wanted to learn more. Everything from understanding owning an online business at a time when that was still very new to knowing everything about every vendor I needed to build a relationship with. The more I learned the more successful the business became. Ten years into DK Florals, Mums Inc. was born. Originally just to talk about the business of mums. Over time it just continued to grow and the conversations just continued to expand and grow. And every one of those conversations became a project to complete or a problem to solve. Very similar to my regular career which I also love very much. I am a Network Security Manager which means I work in Cybersecurity to leave out the technical jargon. I manage a team of smart people who do amazing things every single day to protect our digital life. Two completely different worlds yet I am able to perform the same functions in both, show people the best of themselves, and watch them take off. If I were to say the things I wish people understood the most about the business of Mums and the people in it, that would be to know they are truly gifted creators. Each of us takes the time to understand our customers and create something they have been waiting on since they were kids. We take the time to make each design special because these are the memories life is made of. We work all year to spend an exhaustive 2 months making magic. We then look back and see all of the memories made and all of the joy these designs give our customers. Its special and its a tradition we hope never dies.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have had all sorts of support in this journey. Mums Inc. was born out of a basic conversation between two business owners. It has grown to support some of the biggest names in the industry. I have to give a huge shout-out to my board of directors who are my sounding board and biggest source of support not to mention my biggest cheerleaders and my friends. The rest of my shoutout is to my members. They keep me inspired, seeing their love for this business and the pride they take in their work and in helping each other. No competition, no judgment just sisterhood.
