We had the good fortune of connecting with Maria Barragan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maria, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
When we moved to Dallas from Miami there was no Venezuelan place where to eat, and after a bad Uber day we decided to risk all of our savings and start the bussiness and it was a hit

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a young venezuelan couple that came from nothing, we moved to dallas from miami and after saving as much as we were able to we decided to start our first bussiness, we put all our savings in a Food trailer and we didn’t know anything about permits or how to manage a bussiness, my husband was a cook for sometime and I was a server, that was all we knew about restaurants, thanks to maria espina we were able to start the bussiness because she guided us through all food related things ( we only knew we liked good food ) so it was very challenging at first because we didn’t know anything about a food truck but thanks to our customers our business has been a success since the day we opened. We have learned that anything is impossible and that we need to be consistent with our goals

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For us is very simple, also because we work a lot and now we have a baby, but regarding food the first place I would recommend on going is to our restaurant, after that I recommend to walk around Grandscape or downtown, also the zoo is very fun specially with kids, I like chilangos tacos too. I feel like DFW is very big and there is definitely lots of fun things to do around here.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Maria angelica espina, without her we wouldn’t be able to create the brand that we have now, the food and everything regarding the food was all her, our family, our parents and our perseverance
