We had the good fortune of connecting with Kionia Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kionia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to do something every day that I enjoy that didn’t feel like work and at the same time helped others. We are put on earth to not only pursue our dreams, but to contribute to society. Making others feel good is very important to me.

What should our readers know about your business?
BXSIURI /BA’SIRI/, which means the journey of becoming 1 of 1. The meaning came to me in a dream. I literally woke up and was like, that’s it! The journey of becoming 1 of 1! You can only be the best version of yourself and that’s what my brand wants our consumers to push to become. I’m so proud of how much people have grown to love the brand. I get direct messages on Instagram all the time about how people are inspired and love their workout clothes. It makes me absolutely ecstatic when my consumers love their purchases just as much as I do. Getting to the point of being an established brand was not easy at all. You spend a lot of money on inventory, but more so a ton of time. Patience is the most important thing besides not giving up. I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Launching my brand was one of the best moments in my life. Through all the setbacks it was all worth the end result. It’s all about how bad you want it and if you’re willing to do what it takes. The biggest lesson I learned is that there’s no such thing as perfection. As much as we strive to have everything aligned in business you really are learning as you go and constantly evolving.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely say first let’s go to the Woodhouse Day Spa in The Shops of Legacy! We’d probably brunch at Chelsea Corner, XOXO Dining Room, Yardbird, Saint Anne or Hero. To hangout we’d probably go to the Dallas Star, Addison, Uptown or Deep Ellum depending on the time of the year.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my grandfather Al McKee that passed 10/24/19. He was my biggest supporter and the reason I never gave up. Every time I doubted myself or wanted to give up he was there to encourage me.
