We had the good fortune of connecting with Kendall Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kendall, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
After football didn’t go as planned. I was in limbo for about 2 years, then my first born daughter came into the world. That’s when my perception on life began to change and I started thinking about business and ownership. I look at business as legacy. I know everything I do from here on out will be bigger than me and I want my kids kids to understand that they will have a choice to do whatever they feel is best for them and the next generations to come.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As a music entrepreneur, there are plenty hats I have to wear, especially when it comes to music management. Having knowledge of the music industry is key. Ive read books and everything, but the most important thing to do is get out there and start building value in whatever it is you want to do like creating a music blog, building a music studio to connect with artist, creating music events, etc..
While doing those things you must remember to stay consistent. Being consistent might be the biggest challenge for me. The best way I feel to overcome these challenges is by building a good team and foundation. Without that nothing will blossom. So that’s currently the stage I’m at right now. Making sure my team and foundation is strong. I am most proud of the progress I’ve made over the years and glad that I never gave up. It’s been a great learning experience.
I just want the world to know that I’m no different from anyone. Everyone is a creative and has the power to do whatever they want. Don’t put limits on yourself you’d be surprised by the things that’ll happen if you let faith guide you.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If one of the homies flew in town I’m definitely bringing them to my families Daiquiri Shoppe. Friday would be the Grand Prairie location and Saturday would be the Carrollton location.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Well first and foremost S/O to my GOD, but also my family, and the mother’s of my children. The route I choose to take isn’t easy and also can be a burden to the ones you love. So I know it’s not easy for those that don’t understand what I’m doing.
There was definitely a book I read that rapper Big Sean mentioned in a interview it’s called “Ask And It is Given” by Esther and Jerry Hicks.
Also most importantly the person that inspired me to even think about music business in the first place was my brother Lamont Green. I watched him back in junior high recording and rapping out of his grandparents crib and he damn near recorded everyone in the city to be honest. He was really taking it serious I would be there all night watching him sometimes. So 10+ years later when things with ball didn’t work out it was like music came back to me full circle.
