We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelly Thomas (or The Kidd) and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelly, how do you think about risk?
I come from a rodeoing family and a family of entrepreneurs, so the action of taking risk comes naturally to me. I moved out at 18, I let go of people and places that no longer served me, I traveled solo across the western United States, and I went independent as a stylist just two years ago—right after a global pandemic when markets were still finding balance. I could tell you stories that would make your jaw drop, but the truth is, I’ve never regretted a single leap. Big or small, each risk has carried me forward. I love the invigorating feeling of uncharted waters, and even when it isn’t easy, growth always waits on the other side.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My work is about exploring innovation in both hair and business. My brand was born from the belief that beauty, wellness, and feminine principles are deeply connected. When I meet a client, it’s never just about the service being performed, it’s about helping them create change internally, because that’s what ultimately impacts the health of their hair.
Funny enough, I never imagined I’d own my own space. A few years ago, I was pursuing sustainable real estate development. But every pivot in my life has led me to this moment, and I’m proud of how those chapters evolved into the vision I carry now. If you told me three years ago that I’d have the vision to build an eco-friendly commercial spa that blends holistic beauty with a business model challenging societal norms, I would have been skeptical. Yet, the journey taught me that recognizing opportunity and having the courage to pivot are two skills you should never underestimate.
What I want the world to know is that my brand is a laidback luxury experience rooted in wellness and authenticity. It’s for people stepping into a new era of beauty and lifestyle where we honor our bodies, our energy, and the way we choose to live and connect. At its heart, my story is about service: uplifting and inspiring others, and remembering that when we honor ourselves and the people around us, we invite true wellness and luxury into our lives

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit for a week, I would want them to experience the blend of beauty, luxury, and fun that makes life here so special.
On the weekdays, we’d keep it close to home in Frisco. We’d start mornings with a Reformer Pilates class at Session Pilates or a heated mat class at Shine. Afternoons would be for exploring Legacy West or The Star with a little retail therapy. Read Between The Lines is my favorite stationery store for unique finds, whether for yourself or a special occasion. Evenings would stay relaxed but chic with dinner at The Glen, cocktails at Reflections at Omni PGA, and maybe a walk on one of the local nature trails.
By Friday night, the energy shifts. We’d start with people-watching and drinks at Monkey Bar in Highland Park Village before dancing the night away at—and I cannot believe I’m not gatekeeping this—Regines, my favorite Latin nightclub. I kid you not, I’m there every Friday!
Saturday would be our recovery and reset day. We’d spend time at WorldSprings for saunas, mineral pools, and wellness treatments, then wrap the evening with dinner and drinks at Brasao at The Shops of Legacy. If there’s a rodeo or an FC Dallas match happening, that would definitely be on the agenda too.
Sunday would slow down with brunch at Ascension Coffee at The Star, followed by a long walk through Arbor Hills Nature Preserve to close out the trip in nature.
At the end of the week, my hope is that they’d leave not only having had fun, but also with a deeper sense of the beauty, balance, and laidback luxury that makes this area and my lifestyle so special.
