We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelley Irwin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelley, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
I believe the most important thing I’ve done for my children is establishing a firm foundation of faith. My husband, Jeremy, and I are Christians, and the legacy of faith that we are passing along to our sons provides a sturdy base upon which they can build their lives. Following that, we consider nurturing our marriage as a precious gift to our children. Providing them with a peaceful, loving home where both parents are present has a profound impact. We also believe in instilling in our kids the value of hard work, perseverance, and the art of loving others well.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Jeremy and I are the owners of Irwin Construction, a construction company located in Argyle, TX. Our focus lies in residential remodeling, and we take pride in our meticulous attention to detail in both space design and the technical execution of each remodel. What I cherish most about this job is the opportunity to work alongside Jeremy every day. As a true family-oriented company, our two sons are often involved in the business with us. We established our company in 2014, when our oldest son was just 2 years old. Our business experienced rapid growth, by the time our second son arrived in 2016, I found myself handling more work hours than I could effectively manage with a newborn and a four-year-old at home.

This period became our most significant challenge in business, requiring numerous long days and late nights to find a balance between work and family life. While hustle often proves essential in growing a small business, we firmly believe that achieving success in both a flourishing business and a thriving family life shouldn’t be at odds with each other. Our solution came in the form of building a team of talented individuals to share the workload within our business. We feel incredibly grateful for our exceptional team, individuals who treat our clients like their own family.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There’s an abundance of activities, sights, and yummy food to explore in the metroplex! If we were to host a visiting friend for the week, we’d likely take them to our favorite spots that we frequent regularly. One highlight is our weekly taco night, a tradition we cherish with our closest friends at Rusty Taco in downtown Denton. Another favorite outing involves introducing our kids to live music and BBQ at Marty B’s in Bartonville or treating them to Pizza Snob in Denton.

During the summer months, we’d bring our guests to relax at Lake Grapevine and enjoy a day of boating with friends. In more temperate weather, we might opt for a trail run at Knob Hills trail in Roanoke.

There’s also the enchantment of visiting the Perot Museum, Dallas and Fort Worth Zoos, and our latest discovery, The Museum of Illusions in Dallas.

However, for the most part, we’re homebodies. We relish cooking at home and savoring unhurried dinners with friends gathered around the table, or simply spending an evening engaged in conversation by the fire pit.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
In any parenting discussion, I must pause to acknowledge my own parents. They fostered a nurturing environment for me and my siblings, purposefully guiding us toward maturity, love, and productivity as adults. They are still the ones I turn to when I encounter challenging situations, and now, they’re phenomenal grandparents!
