We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaymon Farmer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kaymon, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?

After an award winning college academic and athletic career, I came to the realization football was coming to an end and I needed to make a transition to my new life. I knew I wanted to become an entrepreneur that created streams of income and then turn into an investor. I didn’t know exactly how I would do so, I just knew I wanted to be a positive force in others’ lives. As any 23 year old who just graduated and got married, my life had several question marks that needed to be answered in order to provide for my family.

Shortly after college I gained several skills while working at a bank, fitness gym, boys and girls club, pizza delivery and valet parking in my college town in Durant, Oklahoma. During that time, I knew I had talents and skills to do better but I was completely lost and didn’t know what would be my next move in business.

Finally, when I saw that the technology startup market was thriving. As a creative, I knew this was the field I wanted to be in. It was the right market timing to take a chance and learn about the tech industry and create something of my own.

In 2017, I started a company called Double Amor which initially was an app to help couples meet other couples. It was inspired by my wife and I honeymoon cruise when we met other couples from around the world. This venture helped me build my product building skills, branding, marketing, recruitment, speaking from a stage, risk taking, investment understanding and other skills.

Throughout the next 3 years, we entered pitch competitions, attended Shark Tank, did some couple’s events and did A/B testing of our product. The main issue with this company was we didn’t have a solid business model to help us generate revenue from our efforts.

In July of 2020, I was hired as a high school technology teacher and coach at Princeton High School. While sitting in my first athletes parents meeting I listened in on all the problems athletic programs across the nation would face. One of the main problems was not having concessions to support the athletes. If you don’t know, most athletic support comes from booster clubs who get most of their funds from concession stands at games.

That’s when we launched Concession Delivery, an app that allows booster clubs and venues to raise more money in less time by offering on-demand concessions at events. Think of it as “Uber for Concessions” where our goal is to remove long walks, missed plays and long lines for fans and offer the convenience of in-seat delivery, in-turn increasing order volume. We encourage students to run the orders to fans so they can get involved in their community.

Our business model is 1 sport, 3 sports, 5 sports subscription model where schools and venues purchase our license and we rebrand the mobile ordering app as their own. During the time of proving our concept our clients will receive a whopping 95% profits that come through their app. This software allows schools and venues to control concessions, analyze data and manage their inventory from one centralized location.

The vision I have for Concession Delivery is a nationwide fundraising program that goes beyond high schools and become a global leader in technology. After all, I know that there is a need for a centralized platform for restaurants and food trucks to take orders through their own app and make as much profits as possible. We see opportunities with that sector and club sports. As of right now, we’re hyper-focused on high schools in the DFW and East Texas area.

Currently, we completed a test pilot at Princeton High School and generated $250 revenue using our technology. Shortly afterwards, we got an opportunity to join the Impact Ventures accelerator program, where they provide founders knowledge, tools and skills necessary to build, fund, and scale their startups. We aim to help maximize fundraising opportunities by delivering unforgettable game experiences.

I believe this is just the start of my career and there is a lot of work to be done. I am very thankful for my Wife, Mom, Dad, immediate family, and my team for believing in me. Without their love & support, I could never make it on this journey thus far.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets Concession Delivery apart is we exist to help booster clubs and venues raise more money in less while developing students through their own modern, safe and innovative mobile ordering app that allows fans to receive in-seat delivery.  We’re offering high schools an early bird special price for this upcoming year.

Our packages range from $666-$2,999. Each package offers 95% profits from each transaction. We also sell ad space inside of each app for corporate and local businesses to promote their offerings to the users of the apps at games. The schools get up to 5% revenue from the ads we sell for them.

I’m most proud of how we have focused on a solution during the most unpredictable school year ever (post pandemic) and manifested it into reality to help people raise more funds in less time. I’m thankful for the momentum we gained by rallying smarter people around the concept and taking it to heights I can’t even imagine yet.

Being aware of the types of thinking that make you really successful at a 9 to 5 job are really different than the types of thinking that will make you really successful as an entrepreneur. That’s how we got to where we are today. It has not been an easy journey but it’s well worth it when you’re working on an idea that was birthed within you. We have a few principles we live by to keep progressing.

1. Personal Responsibility – Take active responsibility for your success because no one can do it for you.

2. Have courage You will be scared – Your comfort level will be challenged. Courage is activated in the presence of fear/challenges.

3. Your app is not that different – The fundamentals of success are the same for every single app!

4. FTDI Follow the dang instructions – don’t reinvent the wheel just follow instructions.

5. Commit to results, not activity – Don’t get stuck on the hamster wheel working on things that can’t/won’t move the needle.

6. Work on something you are really good at! Problem-solving is one of the main keys to app building. What problems are you already good at solving?

7. Embody ‘hacker culture’ Overcome limitations using clever workarounds and a spirit of playfulness & exploration, called hacking.

8. Build a business that happens to have an app, not an app that happens to have a business The tech is secondary. Solve a problem first, build a business around it, and THEN add tech.

9. Optimize for profitability over “fundability” Revenue & profit margins are important NOW, not just when you scale or get extra funding.

10. Establish the right environment Your habitat is where you build your habits.

I want the world to know that I’m going to attack adversity head on and will look for solutions to make people’s lives easier along the way. That’s how Concession Delivery was born. So don’t look for motivation before you take action, just get started on what you envision and you will become more inspired along the journey.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Friday – Go to the Allen outlets to get some gear and then a Allen Friday night game

Saturday – Attend a yoga session at Klyde Warren park and go to Deep Ellum that evening

Sunday – Go to a boat party at Lake Lewisville and eat wings

Monday – Go to Frisco Legacy West and eat and drink at Legacy Hall and enjoy the scenery

Tuesday – Attend a Mavs game and roam around downtown for the night in a rented Lamborghini

Wednesday – Eat at the Reunion Tower and go on a helicopter ride over the city

Thursday – Head out to the airport
