We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaye Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kaye, what are you inspired by?
My daughter is who inspires me. It was on Tuesday March 28, 2017, at 12:53 pm, that my life completely changed. At twenty six years old, I had just birthed my first child. I was scared, nervous, and unsure of how I was going to be the best mom I could ever be. One look into those huge beautiful brown eyes, suddenly my worries went away, and my whole world was ok. Being a role model for her is what drives me each and every day. Someone she can aspire to be. I already see parts of her in me, as she loves to cook just like her mom! Health is another big inspiration for me. I was born with sickle cell disease, and I’ve battled with it all my life. Changes such as eating healthier, and exercising are major in my life to remain as healthy as I can, and be here for my daughter. That is why my business Flavor Fit Meal Prep and Gourmet Catering focuses on organic and nutrition based meals.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Flavor Fit is a gourmet meal prep, and catering service. Our motto is “Healthy Flavorful Food For The Soul.” Healthy food does not have to lack flavor! My main focus was to create healthy alternatives for the average busy individual, while providing the best customer service. Apart of that is offering delivery anywhere throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan Area. My own life was the perfect motive for setting my business apart from others. I started eating cleaner due to my own health issues. Also, being a single mother I know how important convenience is. With that, I set out to create a community of customers who are regular people just trying to live better, like myself. I am most proud of taking a risk and just doing what I’ve always loved to do, cook. I started with no business plan. No idea on how to even run a business, though it was not, and still is not easy, I am super excited to see all my ideas and visions come to life. There were many times I wanted to give up of course, doubting myself, telling myself I couldn’t do things before I even tried. You just have to remember who or what you are doing it for! Your passion has to triumph over your skill or talent. That is the only way I stayed motivated. Lastly, I want Flavor Fit to represent health, family, and humanism, with plans to engage in future events, and give back!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The places we would eat at is definitely with Flavor Fit of course, St. Martins In Dallas, The Bells Sweet Factory, Nobu Dallas, HG Supply co., and my favorite pizza spot Zalat. Then we’d go to brunches at Snooze A.M. Eatery, and Saint Annes, Places we would hang out at are the scat jazz lounge in Fort Worth, Another Round mini golf & bar in Dallas, The Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas farmers market, Museum of illusions, and Snow Day in Dallas. To me, the most interesting places to check out are museums. Whether it be Art, History, Science, or just a fun pop up to take selfies in, museums are the most fun to me. Places like six flags, the zoo, aquarium, main event, and water parks are the most fun.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Sister Melissa, and my father Alvin. Both have been supportive when I needed it the most. Both are the closest people to me.
