We had the good fortune of connecting with Joshlyn Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joshlyn, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I started Dallas Social Influencers the thought was to create a way for content creators to unite and also have a way for women in Dallas to find their Girl Gang. Initially we were just a photo meet up. Girls would show up at one location and take photos with each other and we slowly grew from a small group of 7 to almost 50. After months of meetups we decided to launch memberships and offer collaborations with Dallas business. These women are incredibly talented and work very to manage both their full time jobs and pursuing marketing for Dallas venues. We chose to partner with Dallas Businesses in an effort to support local and also realized that their was a need for Instagram marketing. In the era we live in, so many people use Instagram as a way to learn of new places in their area. with the incredible community of girls we had created, plus the connection with businesses, we learned that we could bring it all together and create Dallas Social Influencers.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started as a content creator in 2015 on @Joshlynphotography. I have always loved going to locations that were incredible and sharing it with my people so that they could go enjoy it too. Even though I had always shared content many of my friends didn’t understand my incessant need to share locations, food places, etc. It was hard to explain my passion and it sort of felt like I was the only one who enjoyed doing it. When I moved to Dallas in 2018 it was hard to meet people and make friends and I continued to post content and my journey. I slowly met people and went to a content creation meetup in early 2019 that my friend Mary put together. She opened my eyes to a whole new world of people who were similar to me and who enjoyed and loved the same things as me. From that moment on I knew that I wanted to create a community where women like me would not feel left out or alone as I had felt for so long. When a friend suggested possibly partnering to create a meetup I thought it would be great. Being a photographer I loved the idea of the girls getting together and taking tons of photos to get lots of content. we met in October of 2019 and the meetups took a life of its own. What I love most about our meetups was that so many women from so many different backgrounds came together and found one common passion. Every time we have a meetup I get the same happiness and excitement from seeing new friendship and connections being made. When the opportunity came up to begin partnering the girls up with Dallas business it was so amazing to see them so happy and excited to grow as influencers & content creators. We are now officially a Influencer Marketing Agency and will be starting out second round of memberships July 1, 2020. If I had to say one thing to anyone who may feel alone or like no one understands them, this group will change your whole perspective. It is incredible to feel like you have a whole community there for you willing to support you!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Love This Question because that is precisely what our girls help share about. We LOVE Dallas! I would say that if it was a quick weekend and they wanted to see some touristy parts and have some great food I would likely plan our weekend out like this. (Keep in mind this is only visit 1… there are SO MANY MORE SPOTS!!) Friday: Visit Reunion Tower and get an amazing view of the whole city. Then we would have Lunch at the Dallas Farmers Market. They have a great selection of food. We would then probably go the the Dallas Museum of art to walk around then Klyde Warren park to check out the food truck for some more food. To Finish off the night we would probably go to Canva for some rooftop drinks. Saturday: Brunch at Snooze & Mimosas Spend the afternoon/ night at Deep Ellum is one of my favorite places. we would probably walk around and take some cool photos on all of the incredible murals. We could have lunch at one of the BBQ places there or at Vidorra. At that point we could start bar hopping with the 10000 options there. Punchbowl social, Cafe Salsera, Stir, Green Room and SO MANY more. Sunday: Brunch at Beto & Sons / Nitrogen Margaritas (is it too early?…Nah… NEVER) take pictures on the Margaret hunt bridge of Dallas skyline. Head home.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
With every business story there is always the people who helped get it off the ground. Delta & Jen were those people for me. They believed in what we were trying to do and have been there for me through some of the rough patches and for the amazing/ incredible parts as well. we recently added Fabiana to the team and I am so grateful every day to have all of these amazing people who support and love what we do. I could also never have been able to do it withought my first round of members who supported me from day one. Even through a pandemic multiple have chosen to sign up again with us in July. So fortunate to have such an incredible girl gang.
