Meet Jon Sinclair | PGA Golf Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jon Sinclair and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jon, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
To own your own business there is most certainly risk involved. Most small business owners like my wife and I risk just about everything to have that American Dream. In my opinion if you are averse to risk owning your own business is not for you. It takes a huge amount of work and financial risk to get it off the ground. Although you may fail at some ventures having a failure is not an option; attitude is extremely important. Without our ability to take on significant risk I do not think I would have been successful at building my own business.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am always the most excited when clients have success. I really do live and die with that. I am sure there are not many that invest emotionally as much as I do. It doesn’t matter to me if they are just learning to break 100 or winning on the PGA Tour. I get just as excited if I can help them achieve their goals. My clients are on my mind most all the time. I am not sure I can recommend this way of doing things because it is very draining and lacks balance. It is who I am though. This mind set also drives me to look at every possible way to help them. I am willing to learn about any new idea and buy any piece of equipment that would help make them better. When looking at the bottom line my willingness to buy any and all technology hasn’t necessarily made a lot of good business sense!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
It would depend on the time of year. We are going into fall so for sure a Cowboy game and a dinner at Del Friscos in Fort Worth would be a good start. Depending on the friend we have all kinds of parks and museums. The Fort Worth Zoo and Dallas Aquarium are also two of my favorites. Of course, golf is my business and I am lucky enough to be based at Texas Star which is one of the best public golf courses in all of Texas. No one is disappointed playing here.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Without question my wife Sheri is the backbone of our operation. Her tireless efforts behind the scenes allows me to really focus on our customers and their success. Also, a huge mention should go out to Dr. Deborah Graham and Jon Stabler of GolfPsych. Their mentorship over the last 23 years has molded my approach to coaching into what it is today.
