We had the good fortune of connecting with Jett Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jett, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I have experienced no greater feeling than being able to make people feel something. Being an artist has opened doors for me to be able to creative and evoke emotion which I feel is a very powerful tool. The first time I made an audience laugh was the most fulfilling feeling I had ever experienced and from that moment forward I knew what I wanted to do,
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an artist and entrepreneur. My passion is television and film but I am not one to put all of my eggs in one basket. Quickly, I learned to tap into my business mindset due to the industry being so unpredictable. As a creative we can be busy for months on end and turn around and hit a dry patch. Empowering Female Actors is are acting classes I created for young girls. They are corses that are intended to empower and educate. In addition to teaching acting classes I turned my photography hobby into a side hustle which allows be to create beautiful memories for others. While I love being an actor and entrepreneur, I am also a student of my craft and my goal is to continue to master my artistry. Ultimately, I hope that every project or business I am apart of will bring life and light to those who view it. To date my podcast, The Black Millennial Wife, has been my greatest achievement. I have been blessed to share what God has done for me as well as inspire women all over the world who are married or desire to be married. My philosophy is what’s meant for me, no one can take. Having this outlook allows me to uplift and support others because I have no fear that anyone is taking away anything from me. I believe this philosophy is what sets me apart from others. There is nothing that I have learned in this industry that I have not shared with others and I know more blessings have and will come my way because of this.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One thing I love about Dallas is the fact that we have a little bit of everything! If you’re looking stay in the heart of the city and splurge a bit I’d recommend staying at the W Hotel in Victory Park. Living like a queen or king for the week never hurt anybody. On the flip if you would like a more remote stay I would recommend Paradise Cove at Lake Grapevine. It’s a little farther from the city but worth it. Paradise Cove offers a luxurious Yurt at the shores of the lake where you can spending evenings at your own fire pit enjoying the sun setting over the water. I am vegan so I would recommend all of the vegan comfort spots in the metroplex. Why not enjoy some comfort food if you’re on vacation? One of my favorites is Belenty’s Love which offers delicious vegan Mexican food, the nachos are to die for. There’s also Da Munchies and Vegan Food House in Dallas. Emporium Pies is just a mile away from VFH and they have delicious deep dish pies for desert. It’s a must! After dinner, I’d recommend Rainbow Vomit if you’d like to let loose and feel like a kid again. You could experience Venice vibes in Las Colinas and go on gondola ride, something you may have never thought existed in DFW. Depending upon the time of year, the Dallas Arboretum is a must see. And if you enjoy bike riding and being out doors we have beautiful hiking location such as Cedar Ridge Preserve or Marion Sansom Park.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I must give all glory and honor to my Savior, Jesus Christ for without Him I would be nothing. I have also been blessed to have the support of my extraordinary mother who has worked relentlessly to ensure that I have all that I need. She has always supported me through this journey of following my dreams. My father who has also been involved in the entertainment industry has been there for me to give advice and support. Most importantly, I must shout out my best friend, my spirt animal and my heart beat in that of my amazing husband. He has been there for me every moment of every day for the past eight years and I am forever in debt to him for his goodness and love. Que será, será baby!
