We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, what role has risk played in your life or career?
“Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far it is possible to go.” — T.S. Eliot

I started Captivating Home Collection, LLC in 2014, as an online furniture and home accessories store in Dallas, TX. A lot of people thought it was a bad idea, because I also work full-time for a technology company and online furniture stores weren’t as popular then as it is now. Through hard work and my website developer, we have been able to create some awesome ecommerce websites. We have gone through three versions and are in the process of creating a new one for 2021. Our team is planning to launch www.chcdesigngroup.com next year, so stay tuned for more updates.

My college degree is in Psychology and I never thought I would be owning a design company. My minor is fine art, so I love being able to express myself by helping create beautiful homes and offices. I might not have the formal design education or background, but I have a strong work ethic and determination. I feel if you are willing to take risks and be committed, you will be successful in the long run.

We moved into our first showroom a little over 3 years ago and I was honestly very nervous about it. We have historically run the company out of a home office and a client-controlled storage unit. I didn’t know if customers would come or how successful it would be. CHC has an amazing network of family, friends, and clients. They would all come on a regular basis to our showroom sales and special events. I also have an amazing husband who is always there to support me at every step of the way.

As business started to slow down, I knew it was time to change our business model. The next big risk we took was getting into commercial design. We had already been doing home staging, so redesigning offices was new territory for us. Through networking and word of mouth, we have been able to secure several big clients. Now our CHC Design Group can complete everything from simple redecorating to full construction/remodeling projects. We have a large team of experienced contractors that can bring someone’s vision into life.

You may be wondering what is next for CHC! Now, we are starting to offer dried flowers and dried pampas grass this fall. We have been stocking our shelves with natural pampas grass in a variety of colors and our customers love it. This is going to be one of the biggest trends in 2021. Event and wedding planners also love it, because it can work in almost any environment. You can use it in boho, glam, industrial or rustic settings.

Captivating Home Collection, LLC is all about evolving and taking risks. It is amazing how we went from selling 10 items on eBay to selling hundreds of items on our ecommerce sites and showroom. Our plans are to continue growing our design business nationwide. Our staff has successfully been able to complete design projects all over Texas and as far west as California. We love servicing our commercial and residential client’s.

Please email contact@captivatinghomecollection.com to learn more about our products and services. You can also follow us on any social media site by searching #CHCLLC or #CHCDesignGroup. We are really honored to be featured by this amazing magazine again and we will continue to share our progress as our company evolves!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have worked in the Human Resources and Talent Acquisition industry for 15 years. My professional experience has helped me a lot as an entrepreneur. I have strong multitasking abilities and communication skills. CHC is a successful company, because I have been to apply my corporate background to my design business. I understand the importance of having a strong business plan, keeping up with any required financial reporting and accomplishing certain benchmark goals. Anyone can start a business, but it takes a certain background to sustain a business for almost 7 years.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I was born and raised in Ft. Worth, TX. I would highly recommend visiting the Ft. Worth Stockyards or checking out a local rodeo. I have spent most of my adult life in the north Dallas and Irving (Las Colinas) area. It is hard to name just one of my favorite restaurants. I love the arts and I try to visit the Dallas Museum of Art as often as possible. You can also people watch and enjoy a nice lunch or concert at Klyde Warren Park.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to recognize my Aunt Margie Burns and Uncle Dennis Sample! My Aunt is certified Interior Designer and my Uncle is a licensed electrician. There years of experience and expertise have been invaluable to CHC. They have joined my team and have been there for me over the years. It is blessing to be able to hire two of your family members and work with them on various projects. They also help manage our other contractors, and that has been a huge help for me as well. I am all about my faith, family, and investing. My plans are to double to size of our design team next year and I am thankful to have them both by my side.
