We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaylyn Boone and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jaylyn, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
The goal is to positively impact as many people as possible with this message: “You are loved. You are chosen. You are special. You are called. You are equipped. You are forgiven. You are able.”

If people are able to hear, heed, receive, embrace, and internalize this message they will be able to walk in the purpose and dominion that was created for them before the foundations of the earth. When young men get this message they will walk with their head high and step into the role of setting the standard for their families rather than looking for the next trend or scheme. When young women get this message, they will be able to operate in the understanding of their worth, not allowing themselves to be undervalued by people who refuse to recognize their worth. When former inmates get this message they will be able to shed the title of criminal and put on the title of community contributor. I believe that the foundation of this message literally has the power to change the world and my goal is to wake up every day and plant seeds of this message wherever I go in faith that someday those seeds will blossom into purposeful people who shift their environments and plant more of these seeds.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is all about shifting the narrative, presenting and promoting The Kingdom in an accurate and attractive way. In the words of Tobe Nwigwe, “making purpose popular”. I believe that the reason many people don’t subscribe to a purposeful lifestyle is because it’s often not presented in an attractive way. Young men don’t want a wife and family because music doesn’t promote a man being present and operating in integrity as “cool”. They aren’t cool or relevant unless they’re “chasing the bag”, likely leaving their family behind in the process. Young women are pushed to dress with less beyond their most genuine level of comfort because being a respectable young women who knows how to make modesty attractive isn’t what’s promoted in the art we experience. My goal is to shift that narrative in a dope and creative way. I want people to be so captivated by my work and presentation that they don’t even realize they’re being taught Kingdom principles and being rewired for real success.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First off, you GOTTA go to Social Dallas! Not just because it’s a church, it’s a whole experience. Honestly, if you start your week off there you might find out all you need to know about the next moves in Dallas. You have arguably the largest collective of young adults in one place with everyone from professional artists to wealth management advisors to expert coffee roasters. Social Dallas is really the place to be. Every Sunday is followed by an “after-move”. That could be brunch at Yolk or any other hot spot in Dallas or connecting at someone’s roof top lounge at their apartment. There are also connect groups all throughout the DFW metroplex to stay connected throughout the week. If you’re looking for good BBQ I’m going to Hutchins. I know there are boutique BBQ spots all across the metroplex but there’s something about the chopped brisket and unlimited dessert that gets me. If you want an experience we can go to the Mavs, Cowboys or Stars game. All are entertaining in their own right, not to mention…Luka + Kyrie…what more do I have to say? If you’re into fitness or just wanna be around the guys, I’m taking you the The Marq in Southlake on Saturday morning to get a lift and run some games of pickup basketball, plus we can run flag football on their indoor or outdoor fields. Listen, the list could just go on. There’s almost nothing that the DFW doesn’t offer. It’s all about what you want, but these are my ideas of a good time. Oh…yeah, and if you want some FIRE cake, I’m taking you to J.Theodore’s in Frisco where everything is made from scratch, from the batter to the icing and it will be the BEST $9.95 you’ve spent on dessert. I GUARANTEE IT or I’ll give you your $10 back. Ok I’m done this time for real. Haha

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to send this shoutout to my dad. While so many accomplishments and accolades have gone to the mantel of my mom’s heart and home – and rightfully so, for all of the sacrifices and contributions she’s made – this one goes to my dad. As a new father, I am already learning how hard it is to walk the line of coach & cheerleader, dad & drill sergeant, protector & pusher, father & friend, and I want to take a moment to thank my dad for doing his part to help me develop and grow into the person I’m called to be. The very things I hated growing up are the things that now guide me and teach me how to walk into who I was created to be.
