We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaxson Turner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jaxson, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Honestly, I don’t look at our Charity as a business. When people call me an entrepreneur, I sometimes frown. I feel like I’m just a kid in the community that saw a need. I enjoy helping others in need. I’m just doing what God wants us all to do.
What should our readers know about your business?
We are a 501c-3 non-profit charity. N2Y2C which stands for Never Too Young To Care. What sets us apart is that it was founded by a 10 year old 5th grader. II am most proud about having support from my community and people from all over the world that allows us to serve underserved/homeless children and their families and veterans. We are four years in. Our tool has been word of mouth through social media. To present date we have raised $80,000. It has not been easy. Covid-19 has affected many charities and families. Our community has continued to rally around us and make it possible to help as many families as we can. The lessons I’ve learned along the way is to always try your best, keep the community engaged, and to put God first in all that you do. I would like the world to know that just because we are kids doesn’t mean we don’t understand that people are going through hard times. If you put your mind and heart together, even a child can also make a difference. Our charity was created with love.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my friend visited I would hope that he/she would come during an event and they could help serve. I would take them to the Frisco Star to watch the Cowboys practice. Of course you have to feed them a good meal at First Watch and Taco Delite. The George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum. Some fun things to do would go to Main Event, K1 Speed, The Game Box, Epic Waters, and definitely to see the Monster Trucks, and a Mavericks game.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout would definitely go out to Mommy! Her name is LaKeicee Turner. She works 2 jobs and then helps with N2Y2C. Sometimes that means giving up every single weekend for a couple of months. There have been times that she has stayed up all night long wrapping presents for the homeless kids during our Christmas Project. Obviously, I am not old enough to drive. So she has to drive me everywhere. Since I am a minor she has to be present for every interview or conference call/meeting. She has had to go in late for work and so much more. She makes my job look very easy. She never complains. I am very grateful for her support and believing in me!
