We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Ohen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmine, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
“I want to help people multiply their purpose.” That’s it! I have always loved helping people walk in the fullness of who God created them to be. Helping people start life-changing nonprofits is no different. I tell my students, “You start a nonprofit because of something you were exposed to or experienced, and now that you’re on the other side you want to empower or enlighten the next community.”

Purpose does that; precision does that.

Purpose requires precision, and I get to help my students find their aim.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I love this question! What separates me is 1: Ain’t nobody else like me boo!

There’s only one me and I have learned to embrace my entire story, flaws and all. I lead from my beliefs and my students feel that. They know I care and will always exceed their expectations. I actually look forward to it!

Within my sector, I approach getting my student’s results in an unconventional way. I have worked in real estate, arts, fundraising, education, and beauty and I noticed many of the things from one space were transferrable to another space.

I begin to apply that within my business. Instead of isolating my student’s success to nonprofit strategies, I give them for-profit strategies that result in nonprofit impact. If it works in real estate, it has to work here! If it works in the classroom, it must work over here! I’ve seen their success collapse time and boundaries simply from applying my framework to their vision.

Of course, I’ve experienced challenges as an entrepreneur. Entrepreneurship requires a person to see 10 years past “what currently is.” You often have to revisit your “WHY” to stay the course.

I say this when I have hard days “Everything living must have a heartbeat. Your business is living and sometimes, just like a heartbeat it’ll dip, but it’ll always rise again.” I remind myself of that when I hear news I didn’t expect or I’m not arriving to my goals as fast as I’d like- this is apart of the living journey you’re on!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, I have been known to be the hostess with the mostess! I love a good brunch spot, okay so Pangea is a must! The food and vibes there are always a 10! After, Pangea it’s time for a nice stroll to Leela’s Wine Bar. After all of that good eating, we’re going to need a nice Rosé honey! We would probably stay there for a few hours too long laughing and becoming best friends with strangers!

HAHAHAHAHA! Okay, okay and to end the night dinner must be a vibe, so Alice’s would give us a nice Pan Asian cuisine, with good drinks, and even better karaoke!

Truthfully, because I lead in my business and other capacities of my life when it comes to planning vacations or something I’m more like a structured flowy person. Itineraries will give me major anxiety, let’s have a general idea, go with the flow, and see where we end up. Those are my favorite kind of days and trips.

You can thank my San Franciscan California Mommy for that!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
OMG! Every time I get asked a question like this I have to first give all praises to my Lord and Savior. Without Him, I am literally nothing. He fills in every single gap and helps me succeed in everything I do.

My husband is really my rock! When I came to him on May 21, 2019, with a huge vision about my nonprofit Heel Yourself, and the visions God gave me regarding entrepreneurship he said: “I believe in you.” Every step of the way in the valleys and peaks he’s believed in me. I love that man!

My Mom and siblings are the truth! My Mommy gives me an extra push when I need it. She was my first supporter. My Mom raised my siblings and me in the kind of house that roots for one another constantly. I don’t know who I would be without my brother and sister’s approval.

My bonus sister and family (immediate and extended) have been so loving and supportive of me. I am truly blessed.

Oh and I cannot forget my best friends! They know who they are. My sisters forever! No matter how far I go, they’ll always keep me grounded with a quick, “Friend, hush!” Hhahahaha! I love them for it!

I really am surrounded with so much love from my parents, bonus parents, siblings, bonus siblings, and family (that includes my best friends too) because truly blood couldn’t make us any closer!
