We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmin Garay and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmin, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Before becoming a full time photographer, I didn’t have a work life balance. I would work Monday through Friday, 6am to 6pm, then from there I would work on my college. On top of that, my weekends I would work on my own photography. Some days I wouldn’t even eat due to me being busy and just forgetting! Since I became a full-time photographer, I’ve had time to do the things I want to do. Like spend time with family or go to church to worship God. With photography, I am able to meet all kinds of amazing people. This job has been a blessing from God himself. I’m so thankful that my work balance has been working great for me and my mental health!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a lifestyle and wedding photographer. I shoot on the true to color side. In the photography industry, most people may think it is very oversaturated. I believe it is not. I strongly believe if you are dedicated to something, without a doubt God will be by your side to help you achieve your goals. Working in this industry, I came to the realization that as a business owner we all run into challenges. It is necessary for us to understand that it is not about how many times you get knocked down, but it’s about how many times you do get up.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If a best friend had came to visit the area, we would go everywhere! Being in between Dallas and Forth Worth is a perk! There are good foods and drinks, as well as fun selfie spots!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my parents Sandy and Salvador Garay. These two have been by my side since the beginning of my photography business. They are both business owners, so I am able to not only receive love and encouragement but as well as mentorship!
