We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamie Blum and Kevin Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamie and Kevin, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
As we expand our small business and continue to grow, we never forget why we started this in the first place… our love for animals. We wouldn’t be where we are today if it wasn’t for our rescue pups, our inspiration to start this journey. Over a year ago, we were looking for ways to make our Sunday volunteer time in a local shelter more impactful. We realized that dogs with better pictures received more interests and visits.

The overwhelming number of amazing and loyal animals that get overlooked in shelters because of their pasts, age, aspect or health is discouraging. Our rescues were no exception and fell victim to this stigma as well. As a consequence, we have been attempting to perfect our art, not only for our clients but for these shelter dogs as well. We try to provide these fellas a fighting chance by periodically working with local DFW shelters and donating photoshoots, in an attempt to capture these animal’s unique personalities and traits and share them with the world. We do this in hopes that someone will reach out and provide these amazing animals the forever home they rightfully deserve.

We are fully aware that people may be hesitant of adopting. We completely understand their concerns as we had them ourselves. However, the purest love we have felt have been from our rescues. At first, there is that learning period from both sides. What people have to understand is that some of these animal’s backstories are tragic to say the least. But love, patience and compassion, are essential in this process. These pet’s fears and trauma will turn into gratitude and love that you will share with your rescue for the rest of their life.

We are beyond excited to share this act of kindness hoping that it would spark many more in our community.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Fluffy Frames Studios provides an off leash, stress free environment and experience to capture your pet’s authentic personality through our lens. Prior to the sessions, we provide pets the opportunity to explore and get familiar with the environment while we plan the final details of the photoshoot with the owner. We also tend to shower the pet with treats because, who doesn’t like treats right?

In regards to what we are proud of? We are proud of the affordability we provide people. As millennials ourselves, we understand the economic climate and how the cost of living has gotten out of hand the past few years. However, we believe that capturing that special pet memory should be accessible to everyone. We get extremely excited to read our customer’s feedback when they receive their pictures.

In the past months we have felt extremely humbled and thankful for the support and love the community has shown us. We started this venture with no expectations and our progress is beyond our wildest imagination, to say the least. We started with a flimsy backdrop holder made out of $20 worth of PVC pipe from home depot, which kept on falling apart with the slightest wind, so having our own studio is extremely rewarding.

This journey definitely came with its own sets of challenges. From marketing to implementing systems, to learning new software. But full transparency, it has been great for our personal development and our relationship. We have really learned to communicate more effectively, play to each other’s strength and really have each other’s back. We knew that we were going to face obstacles when we began this journey and this has been a team effort.
A solid teammate or team is really fundamental to the growth of any business in our eyes. It’s like the saying goes,” if you want to get there fast walk alone, but if you want to get far, walk together”.  Not only have we developed new skills individually but we have also grown as a couple.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is a hard question because there are so many awesome things to do, eat and see in DFW.

We are suckers for a good bagel, so for breakfast we would start off with our favorite bagel shop called Starship Bagels. After a good bagel and an iced coffee a walk in White Rock Lake is a must!

For lunch we would probably hit a BBQ spot, either Heim BBQ or Terry Blacks BBQ. They are both so good. We usually alternate to spread the love.

For entertainment, you definitely have to go to a Mavericks/Stars game as the atmosphere is usually exciting and the fans are awesome.

Dinner at Carbone Dallas, their pasta always exceeds expectations. To end the night we would probably go to our favorite bar the Alamo Club in Lower Greenville for a margarita or two.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We would love to take this space to thank our family and friends! It took thousands of pictures (good and bad ones) to build up our confidence to share our art more broadly. We are beyond thankful for the feedback and the constant encouragement from our family members and our closest friends!

Our first clients Carolina and Fiorella, thank you for trusting us with your pet pictures!! It’s relatively easy to take pictures of your pets as they will listen to you but having these initial sessions really helped us understand different pet personalities and client’s expectations
