We had the good fortune of connecting with James Watson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi James, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When we had a certain level of monetary success, the feeling of gratification we thought we would receive from that was contrary to what we imagined. I’ve always had a passion for fitness and through that wanted to give back to the community, change people’s lives for the better and leave a legacy for our children.
What should our readers know about your business?
The biggest challenge we have faced was opening in a pandemic. We were ready to launch in March of 2020 as shelter-in-place was put into effect. We were allowed to open our doors on Monday, May 18th for the first time. We’ve learned a great deal about ourselves and how important it is to have people that support the vision and mission of the organization in every aspect, unwavering. We are dedicated to total wellness is mind, body and community. Our brand is luxury with social consciousness. Our fitness center Is one of a kind sporting clean lines, a fun. welcoming environment and knowledgeable staff that care about the progression of people’s fitness journey and goals, as well as the proper technique.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First, we would catch a workout at MVEMENT. Grab dinner somewhere low key or where we could catch a sports game, then head back to the house for a glass of bourbon on the back porch.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Gavin Rubin is my best friend and business partner. We’ve been workout partners for a decade and put this thing together. Virginia Watson, my wife, for raising my beautiful children and helping to be there to pick up the slack.
