We had the good fortune of connecting with Jake Mata and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jake, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
I would have to say, being open to change. I learned quick that being open and adapting to change is key. Even more so, being proactive as to be head of it. A great example is during this COVID_19 pandemic. If you are a restaurant business owner and were not on top of your “take out” game / Social Media. You sure are now. ( or should be)! This was crucial for the survival of the businesses. Dine-in in Texas is still not at 100% capacity so it is important more than ever to Market your business.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I brand myself as #TheDFWFoodrep. What is that consist of you may ask yourself? I can put it in four words for you. FOODIE_MARKETING_PROMOS_SALES. “Foodie”…Born! I then started as a Marketing Associate aka “Food Rep” for a big company. There I acquired all the knowledge and tools needed to thrive in this industry. During that time I had started my IG page as well. Dedicated to promoting and Marketing for the DFW food scene. Which I’ve said before.. Is nothing short of spectacular! NOW, let’s fast forward to this COVID_19 pandemic. Unfortunately I was one of the millions of Americans to be laid off. So what would I do next as this pandemic has sent a devastating wave of chaos to the restaurant industry!? First thing was take a class on “Social Media Strategist” and up my game. Now, I have combined it all into one. I manage social media pages for DFW restaurants and businesses that consist of promos and on trend content. I also have my Foodie page where I can feature and promote as well. A restaurant consultant. And lastly, help sell & Market for @social_ice. Through all this I have learned and cannot stress the importance of social media marketing enough. I enjoy helping others succeed and look forward to the continued success and growth while we get back to business here in the DFW.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Whether it’s the nightlife you want to dabble in, outdoor activities you seek, or unique #eats you crave. The DFW is the perfect place to host some EPIC fun! Enjoy some drinks at a great lakeside bar and restaurant @Sneaky Pete’s. They have an HUGE outside patio area with a swimming pool, Volley ball courts, live music, and great eats! Dallas on Friday’s Summer Night: Start with dinner @Javier’sgourmetmexicano in Dallas. They have some GOOD authentic food! End the dinner at the Cigar bar with a nice glass of whiskey. bruh!! Head to uptown area. bar hop the night away at places such as Playground Bar, Tate’s, Trophy Room. Great memories to be made. Them views! The Star in Frisco: How could I not bring someone here!? This place is awesome and close to home. Concrete Cowboy, Sushi Marquee. And of course walk Ford Center. A great experience! The Shops @Legacy: Probably one of my favorite spots as most is walking distance and it has everything needed for a fun filled night. Mi Cocina, Pepper Smash, RA Sushi, Scruffy Duffies. Did I mention start off with an epic dinner of a Porcini Rubbed Delmonico Steak sided with the legendary Lobster Mac @CapitalGrille. NEED NOW!!! Grandscape The Colony: The newest and most EPIC addition to NTX!
