We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacob Vu and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jacob, what do you attribute your success to?
Without a doubt, it’s passion. My crew and I have always shared a passion for pushing the limits of our creative skills, our equipment, and our imagination. There was a time where I had lost my drive to continue the business, and I had announced my intention to shut down the company within the following month. My crew, who had worked with me for over 2 years at that point, stepped up and advised against the shutdown. For me, this was when I knew the passion of the company was undying, and that passion is the sole reason we continue to push our photo and video production capabilities beyond the best.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My films are a result of my constant pursuit of greater cinematic quality, from storytelling to captivating sounds and visual expression. I enjoy incorporating new research and technologies into my films, as well as experimenting with every aspect of producing it. Vuboy Productions is a reflection of my drive for innovation, and I hope to use my company to bring the best of the best media production to other businesses and brands. At the end of the day, I wish to raise the bar for film and commercial production quality in Texas!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are too many pockets in Dallas to cover! My first thoughts definitely fall to Cane Rosso, the best wood-fired Neapolitan pizza I have ever eaten. There are amazing parks and trails all throughout the DFW area, too! I personally love Katy Trail, an awesome concrete path that runs through Uptown. Along the trail, there are some great shops and restaurants such as the Katy Trail Ice House! Some other great restaurants in the area are The Rustic and Rodeo Goat! The Rustic is both great for brunch and for a solid night out! Rodeo Goat is my go-to spot for a legendary burger. Occasionally, the chefs within each restaurant battle to create the best, unique burger recipe- I think that’s all I need to say about that.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First, I’d like to thank Grant Goodrich for recommending me to Shoutout DFW! I’d also like to thank Brandon Jackson, my mentor, and the teacher who opened my eyes to the possibilities with my skill. Thank you to my mother, father, and stepfather for encouraging me to follow my talent, and thank you to my Vuboy crew, Aiden Call and Erin Kimball, who have dedicated so much passion and skill to both commercial works and to my crazy ideas. Finally, I’d like to dedicate this Shoutout to my late mentor, Jeff Willard. He and I shared a passion for film, and I am proud to have helped bring his ideas to life, on film.
