We had the good fortune of connecting with Heidi McBain and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Heidi, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
I love the mantra “be here now.” It’s a great reminder to be in the present moment and let worries and other life stressors go. It can be very easy to get lost in anxiety, especially right now with the pandemic. This can lead us to missing the special moments that are right in front of us all. “Be here now” helps me stay focused in the here-and-now and on what’s most important in my life at any given moment.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I own a therapy private practice, and specialize in women’s mental wellness. I have a certification in perinatal mental health, and most of the women I see are pregnant or postpartum moms struggling with anxiety and/or depression. I’ve been offering all online therapy for years (even before the pandemic hit), as this is a great way to break down some of the common barriers to treatment for the women I help and support.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In “normal” times/pre-pandemic, the Fort Worth Stock yards, downtown to Reunion Tower, the Perot Museum, etc. Now, some place outdoors to hike and explore such as Grapevine Lake. I’m also a big fan of TexMex, and love Anemia’s in Flower Mound.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family, friend and all my mentors and supervisors over the years. The book “The One Thing” was instrumental in helping me focus on what was most important in my life.
