We had the good fortune of connecting with Heather Bush and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Heather, what is the most important factor behind your success?
When I look at many factors behind my success I see the hard work, time away from my family, blood, sweat and tears. But that is not the #1 factor behind my success. The #1 thing is my CMP family. Those that trust me with their family to capture them over and over. So that they have the memories to relish over the years. Without every single family I have spent time with over the years, Chunky Monkey Photography would not be a success.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When I started Chunky Monkey Photography I was working full time outside the home. Pregnant twice while continuing to work two full time jobs at a time! It was hard! But I think the idea of how hard I work has allowed me to continue to move forward and grow within my art. Photography is a job that many people aspire to be. I have seen many “quit” the business along the way. The hardships in this industry can definitely make you question everything you have put into your business. Many years later, Chunky Monkey Photography is strong and growing! One of the hard lessons that I have learned during my career was how to balance life with work. How to be a part of my family 100% and still grow my business. After many hardships, I finally have figured out what works best for my family.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A shoutout would def have to go to my family. They have put in so much into what Chunky Monkey Photography is today. The support that they have all provided me is priceless. My husband has stood by me thru some hard times, tears of building a business, and of course building me up in every way possible. My children have scarified as well. Being a business owner means that momma works long hours sometimes. Sometimes I am away all weekend long. But they give me a hug and a kiss every night and cheer me on. My mother. Well, she is my mom! She has supported me with her words, her love and her ambition to see all of her children succeed.
