We had the good fortune of connecting with Harryette Glenn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Harryette, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
My work life balance has definitely changed over time. It seriously changes weekly. Being the mother of a six year old comes with its own set of challenges. Not only am I keeping up with my schedule but I’m also keeping up with her busy schedule. I make time each day to pour into one of the businesses. When thinking about work life balance my first thought is always what can I do that will reflect the most productivity and the least amount of stress. Every morning comes with a new to do list and a new set of challanges. Lists and notebooks have definitely become my best friends.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am most excited about love. It is what drives my businesses. Peoples love for each other is the reason Rachel Rose Weddings and Events exists. Ones love for travel is why I became a Travel Agent. I am so excited to see where I will be in just a few years. Getting to where I am now wasn’t necessarily easy. I moved to Dallas and only knew one person. Putting myself out there was very difficult but now I’m meeting people everyday. Along the way I’ve learned that you really need to trust yourself and those close to you. I’ve also learned that you need to spend money to make money. That was one of the biggest lessons. I want the world to know that everything I do is in love. I’ve been planning weddings and trips for years and I’m passionate about both. Ones happiness is always my top priority.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I recently had a few friends here from my hometown visit so this should be rather easy. I would first take them to brunch. It is definately my favorite! We went to Strr in Addison. If we were going to do a day party I would take them to Deep Ellum. I really like the DJ at Harlow. One of my favorite hangouts here is Klyde Warren Park. I would totally take a friend there for a picnic and to eat at some of the food trucks. I don’t have a favorite food truck. I like to try them all. After that we can take the trolley around uptown. If they want it to be a super tourist I would take them to White Rock Lake and the Arboretum it’s so pretty in the Spring. Another place I frequent is OT Tavern on Greenville I usually go during the day on Sundays. They have pretty good food and the music is always super good.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It’s seriously so hard for me to really just shout out one person. Every day one of my friends or family members listens to me vent or talk about exactly what’s going on.  I have such a close circle and they all listen to my dreams and goals often. It’s not uncommon to see one of my friends or family members at an event helping me out. If I absolutely had to shout someone out I would just say my close friends and family.
