We had the good fortune of connecting with Grace Onuegbu and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Grace, what do you attribute your success to?
One of the most important factors behind my success is aligning with my God-given purpose. Everything I do in every area of my life is built on the foundation of Christ. He gave me my identity and purpose. When you are operating in the capacity in which you were created to do, even when challenges come up, you will be rooted, because you have understanding of your purpose. Your purpose is the reason why you were created and will give you a sense of direction to make wise decisions for your life. Stay aligned with your purpose and you will achieve the success you desire.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Smilebiz LLC is a personal development company that helps women through the 4Ps of life by creating balance. The 4Ps include peace, prestige, purpose, and prosperity and we utilize biblical principles and practical strategies to help women achieve their goals in each of these four pillars. I love to see the transformation in their mindsets the women achieve whether it is through reading my books, taking a course, coaching, or hearing me speak.

Being intentional and consistently showing in my business has contributed to where I am today business-wise. The operational logistics of running a business comes easier with time and you can outsource assistance, but the challenging concern is staying motivated. There have been times where I questioned am I making positive impact through my business. Nevertheless, I had to stay focused on my why. Everything goes back to focusing on purpose. Whether you make consistent sells or attendees show up to your events, as entrepreneurs, knowing and understanding your why and who benefits from your why, will help you overcome any challenges that come your way regarding your business.

I have learned to seek God for counsel and wisdom to make the right decisions in my business. Also, I learned the art of balance, because if your whole life wraps around running your business, you will show up in a deficit in other areas of your life. When you are an individual that wears many hats, balance is a requirement not an option. I not only run a business, but I am also a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner, minister, and a mother, so I had to learn how to live a fulfilled life of balance through systems and discipline.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I relocated to Dallas from Maryland a year ago, so I am still learning some spots to go to. Nevertheless, I am always ready to discover something new here. I am an art enthusiast, so I enjoyed the Dallas Museum of Art, and the Dallas World Aquarium is a place for adventure. They have this beautiful rainforest there and the exhibit with the exotic animals are amazing. I am a foodie, so I love going to different restaurants. One of the places I had recently went to is called Cafe Nubia where they infuse Mediterranean style with African flavors and culture. Cafe Nubia is a total vibe from the live music to beautiful settings where you can take pictures. Also, for more live music Deep Ellum is the place to go, because The Free Man Cajun Cafe and Lounge is a great place to hear live music. Some of the performers play their own music or perform covers. Dallas is a beautiful place to explore.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Firstly, God deserves all the glory for where I am in life. He has never failed me nor left my side, and I am grateful for his perfect love. There are so many people who have supported and encouraged me in the different phases of my life, so I cannot credit one person. My family and close friends have played a major impact in my life to motivate me to keep going even when things look bad. I am appreciative of everyone who has supported and held me accountable to my becoming process.
