We had the good fortune of connecting with Frenchie and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Frenchie, can you tell us about an impactful book you’ve read and why you liked it or what impact it had on you?
I’ve read (more than once) Mississippi Blues Legend Robert Honeyboy Edwards biography “The World Don’t Owe Me Nothing.” As a lifelong fan of Blues Music, it fascinates me to read the stories of some of my favorite musicians and it inspires me in my own life as an artist… considering how hard life was for these musicians and the resilience they showed, it puts things in perspective with my own personal experiences here in America.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My name is Kevin Sciou aka “Frenchie” and I reside in Fort Worth, TX. I was born & raised in Nimes, France (FW official sister city) and came to the United States 20 years ago. I have been a lifelong musician and since living in America I’ve played with a plethora of artists… (Stargunn ft. ShooterJennings,Wade Bowen, Stoney LaRue, Billy Joe Shaver, Jack Ingram…) But for the past decade I’ve also grown as a singer/songwriter releasing 2 solo albums as Frenchie (They Call Me Frenchie & Farewell To Sanity) and 3 albums as Frenchie’s Blues Destroyers (self titled release, Love is Blood & Praise) my current project… I consider myself a “lifer” and I am focused and writing new songs, recording & playing as much as possible.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In Fort Worth, I’d take them straight to the Stockyards… in Dallas, we would go explore Deep Ellum!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I send a shoutout to the Nikki Mitchell Foundation and their fight in Pancreatic Cancer research…
