We had the good fortune of connecting with Fabi Melendez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Fabi, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Never in a million years would I even thought of starting my own business with photography. It seem like such a far away goal and with so many talented photographers in the community around you can definitely feel the pressure and intimidation at first. So many adjustment and lessons I had to learn throughout the process, but after doing my first photoshoot the satisfaction of the client when they see the photos is beyond words.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been doing photography for a little over 2 years already and at first it was very frustrating between the editing and learning posing for clients, there was a point that I didn’t feel I would have the time for learning everything. Overall I have had lots of support from other great photographers that have gave me tips in the way. I want to be recognize has is for my great personality and open mind with my clients ideas and help them feel comfortable during their session. Capturing those favorite moments with your love ones or even treating yourself with a solo photoshoot are worth wild!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
coffee shops and winery’s here we go!! I am ALL about trying new places to eat – guilty on having a list on my note haha 🙂 having a great outdoor sitting is a must + CUTE pictures duh!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents and little brother are my NUMBER ONE FAN! They give me the best critiques and advice, always supporting me even though our distance (hey live in Puerto Rico). My girl gang always showing support by sharing and liking my post on my photography page. Last but not least, my mentor in business, KT. This group of people that surround me, I have no words on how thankful I am.
