Meet Erykah Holloway | Podcaster and Mental health advocate

We had the good fortune of connecting with Erykah Holloway and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erykah, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
That is a great question. There is a lot of things that bring me joy. I love spending time with my loved ones. They have been my biggest supporters since the very beginning. I am a book worm. I enjoy reading mystery fiction books. Mystery fiction books are my favorite genre because you are piecing together information and trying to figure out who did it before the big reveal at the end of the story. It is very satisfying and it keeps you guessing. I love traveling. The most recent trip that I have been to is Canada. I travel to Canada once a year to visit my family in both Montreal and Toronto.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a podcaster, content creator, and a mental health advocate. I have a podcast called Take 30. The take 30 podcast offers an open conversation about mental health challenges. On the show, I dive into topics such as self-care, ways to build your confidence, letting go of self-doubt etc. I have several guests come on the show to share their own mental health struggles with mental health. I also share my personal struggles with social anxiety. My own journey with social anxiety began at the age of 4 years old. Growing up without the necessary resources has forced me to navigate the different challenges I faced on my own. The overall goal of the show is to break the stigma towards mental illness by creating a safe space for my listeners. I think the most rewarding part of starting the show is the feedback from my listeners who find my show very inspirational and are able to connect with the show through their own experiences.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A week long trip to the Dallas area would be so fun. If my best friend and I were going to be in the Dallas area, we would go to the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens and checkout their floral displays. We would also go to the sky Blu rooftop for drinks and enjoy the view of the city.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely!!! I would like to give a special shoutout to my cousin Vanessa, I am incredibly grateful to have her in my life. Her encouraging words have definitely played a huge role in my success. From brainstorming sessions to just ranting about life, she is definitely someone who I can count on. Her encouraging words has helped me boost my confidence and motivated me to work hard towards my passions.
I would also like to thank my dad for always being there for me. He has always been my biggest cheerleader for all of my accomplishments especially since making a decision to start my podcasting journey. He encouraged me to publish episode 1 of my podcast and not worry about judgement from others. From a very young age my dad taught me to always follow my passions and do things that make me happy.
