We had the good fortune of connecting with Eddy-King and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eddy-King, what do you want people to remember about you?
I think about legacy often. As an artist, I want to go down as an all-time great. As a person, I want to be remembered as someone that cared deeply about people and helping them become better versions of themselves, through the music and work outside of just the music.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What I’m most proud of and excited about is what we have coming up next, both musically and business-wise. Most recently, I just put out the first single ,”Imperial,” from this upcoming project that will come out later this year. That single is available now on all platforms where you can buy/stream music.
To be honest, I’m still not where I’d like to be yet professionally. There is still a lot of work that is being done right now. More shows and open mics that I plan on performing at as we continue to transition our way out of this pandemic. We are currently in the process of developing our RoseGold clothing brand; our hat collection will be the first line made available. There’s been many lessons up to this point. Some that come to mind would be the importance of writing down your plans and being consistent in getting them done. We’ve also recently undergone a rebrand of RGM, which now stands for RoseGold Music.
Our goal is to still provide timeless music for people to live their lives to.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Off top, we have to go to Chilli Thai in Carrollton. That’s definitely my favorite and most visited restaurant that I’ve gone to in the last several years. Great staff and the Thai food there is always refreshing, especially their Panang chicken and shrimp curry.
In terms of drinks, we’d have to take a quick stop the Joule Hotel in Dallas and ask for Deejay Howard. I rank him right up there with some of the top bartenders in the city.
For interesting places to check out, I would highly recommend going to the Jam Sessions in Deep Ellum hosted by RC & The Gritz with Jay Clipp in the mix. They have recently moved to the Three Links, so if you’re looking for great live music to vibe out to and possibly draw inspiration from, that would be the spot.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give a lot of recognition to my dad (aka my mentor), my mom, both of my sisters, and the rest of the family. There also can’t be a shoutout done without mentioning my friends and RGM brothers that constantly support the vision. Lastly, I have to give a shoutout to Anthony from UMuzik for his consistent insight into the business these past few years. It’s definitely been appreciated.
