Meet Devin Way | Artist / musician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Devin Way and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Devin, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking is just what it states! But with taking a risk it’s still smart to plan. I learned this the hard way but I don’t regret it, back in 2016 I drove to California with $300 in my pocket and a dream with NO plan! Although I made some cool connections it didn’t really lead to much because I didn’t plan properly
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from most are my intentions! Which are simple I long to heal others and be healed through the power of funk and liberate people from dark places so they may understand the balance of light and darkness.
I got to where I am by simply being open to what ever the universe has and being willing to adapt to uncomfortable situations , because that’s how you grow through your discomfort
I want the world to know you can be and have anything your willing to go get
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would definitely have to eat and catch some music at the Freeman , then take a stroll downtown because there is so much art and culture in the city and maybe get some yoga/meditation connect with nature ya know?!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Kia Nichole and Robert Sput Searight have both played a major part in my career! Kia Nichole gave me my first gig at age 15 and I haven’t looked back sense , I’ve recorded drums on about 10 studio albums/ singles all because she helped me believe in myself!
Sput is actually from the Dallas area , his role in my career has mainly been from a far up until about 4 years ago he’s given me some great information and even just listing to his story always puts a charge in my battery to keep going ! When the funk knocked on my door it couldn’t have been better timing because if you know Sput you know he’s a funky mofo ! I’m greatful to have Kia as a sister and Sput as a brother
