We had the good fortune of connecting with Daphne Cosey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Daphne, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It began as my way to keep up with my, at the time, 3 year old special needs daughter love for big flashy hairbows. I joined groups on Facebook and watch tons of YouTube videos. I stumbled upon a video of a lady using the Silhouette Cameo to personalize the hairbows. I immediately bought one not realizing all that I could do with it. Once I realized it’s potential, I never looked back. I began personalizing my daughter’s hairbows, tshirts, backpacks, cups, and anything else I could find. She wasn’t always able to speak up for herself so this was my way of helping her standout In a positive light!
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I am set aside from the rest because of my dedication and desire to be the best at what I do. My designs are always top quality no matter the item the designs are being placed on. I have worked hard to perfectly craft. I’ve taken countless amounts of classes and watched hundreds of video tutorials to further educate myself on the latest techniques and products available. It was in no way easy. I’ve wasted so much time and money along this journey. No matter the challenge, I just never gave up. I’ve learned anything worth having is worth fighting for. So each time I wanted to give up, I gave myself that pep talk and pushed even harder. Failure is not an option.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shoutout out a few people. Let’s start with my children. They are the reason I grind so hard. Secondly, my friends and family. They are always there to give me that extra push I need. Lastly but most certainly not least, GOD!!! Without Him, none of this would be possible.
